Atalanta vs. Genoa: Preview and TV schedule

Claudio Villa

Two mid-table sides clash in Bergamo in Sunday's late Serie A game, with both Atalanta and Genoa looking to end their losing streaks.

Both Atalanta and Genoa's recent runs have prevented them from seriously pushing up the table and contesting for a place in Europe. The Bergamasques were in some extremely impressive form before they plunged to three consecutive defeats, nudging them down to 11th place. Their Ligurian visitors on Sunday have fared even worse of late, with four back-to-back losses seeing them fall three places lower than La Dea.

That means it's anyone's guess who'll take victory at the Atleti Azzurri d'Italia in Serie A's late Sunday game. These sides are generally pretty even, and both of the last two meetings have ended in 1-1 draws. It may be that injuries and suspensions eventually play a part in determining the outcome, with Atalanta without Carlos Carmona and Mario Yepes through suspension, and Riccardo Cazzola, Maxi Morález and Franco Brienza are all in doubt.

That's as lengthy a queue for the treatment as than the grifone's, who will be without Matuzalém, Ricardo Centurión and Emanuele Calaiò, though otherwise should have a full-strength team available. However, they still have to overcome a stubborn side who've only lost five times in 17 games in front of their home fans this season, with Atalanta no doubt the favourites heading in.
