Liverpool's consecutive slips against Chelsea and Crystal Palace have seen them arrive at the final game of the season two points adrift of league leaders Manchester City. They need to beat Newcastle United at Anfield and hope City calamitously lose at home to West Ham United if they're to get their hands on the title. Even if City draw against the Hammers they will almost certainly have done enough due to their big goal difference advantage.
The odds are certainly stacked heavily against Brendan Rodgers' side, but they should at least hold up their end of the bargain. Newcastle have had a pretty decent season, and are guaranteed a comfortable top half finish. But over the second half of the campaign they've been extremely poor, and manager Alan Pardew is coming under heavy fire.
For this match, Liverpool are still without long-term injured defensive duo Sebastián Coates and José Enrique, though it's the Magpies' physio who's rather more busy at present -- he's still got Ryan Taylor, Sammy Ameobi, Papiss Cissé and Davide Santon to tend to. They'll all certainly miss this match.
