The Champions League final was not moved to a 1,000,000 seat stadium in Madrid (seriously, it was the perfect time to build this) and the entire population of the city couldn't travel to Lisbon for the match.
The solution: pack people into Atletico and Real's stadiums to watch the match on makeshift big screens. It was perfect.
Only it wasn't so perfect for 93 minutes at the Bernabeu, where Real Madrid fans were in tears as their beloved Merengues were on the verge of losing. But then Sergio Ramos headed home a Luka Modric corner kick and all hell broke loose.
Sports are cool.
