Newcastle entered the day winless in their last eight and with only one goal scored in that span. Two years ago, they were Champions League contenders, but now they find themselves much closer to relegation than they do fourth.
And Newcastle supporters have had enough.
They are done with Alan Pardew. They are done with Mike Ashley.
On Saturday, the club hosted their last home match of the season and the supporters organized a protest of Pardew and Ashley -- a walkout. In the 69th minute (to commemorate their last top flight trophy, the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969), fans left St. James' Park.
Things got hostile at times, with fans going to the Director's Box and having it out with Ashley before stewards escorted them out. Those fans were generally greeted with cheers by the rest of the stadium.
It's safe to say Newcastle fans hate Ashley. And really, really hate Pardew.
