England continue their World Cup preparations with the first of three pre-Brazil friendlies on Friday, hosting Peru at Wembley. It's certainly a game England manager Roy Hodgson will be expecting to win, with Peru having having not qualified for the World Cup, nor having won a single match since they hosted Ecuador in a qualifier last June.
Hodgson will likely opt to field his preferred World Cup starting 11, as he looks to build up tactical familiarity in a competitive situation. However, we can expect to see quite a few substitutions, with other players no doubt looking to use these pre-tournament friendlies to try and force their way into his first team.
Meanwhile, new Peru boss Pablo Bengoechea seems to be using this match for purely experimental purposes. The Uruguayan has left veteran captain Claudio Pizarro at home as he looks to start a new Peruvian international cycle, with only two of the players called up over the age of 29.
