International friendlies schedule 2014: 11 World Cup teams play Saturday

Charlie Crowhurst

The biggest day of World Cup prep yet is Saturday, featuring three games where Brazil-bound teams play each other.

We're just 13 days away from the World Cup, and this weekend sees most Brazil-bound teams play their most important pre-tournament friendlies. Between Friday, Saturday and Sunday, almost every team going to the World Cup will play a match against a solid opponent. On Saturday, 11 World Cup teams are in action.

Saturday features the second to last set of games before teams have to submit their final squads to FIFA. Most teams have already cut down to 23 players, but many are waiting until the June 2 deadline to axe some World Cup hopefuls. Some of these teams will make a final announcement a day early, after their games today.

There are three games that pit World Cup teams against each other. The most intriguing is Netherlands vs. Ghana, mostly because it's impossible to know now how the inclusion of Kevin-Prince Boateng will shake up the Black Stars' lineup. In the other matches, Portugal meet Euro 2004 foils Greece and Mexico take on Ecuador in Texas.

Action kicks off at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday, with Croatia and Mali.

Schedule (all times ET)

Croatia vs. Mali - 10 a.m.
Algeria vs. Armenia - 12 p.m.
Norway vs. Russia - 1:30 p.m.
Netherlands vs. Ghana - 2:30 p.m.
Portugal vs. Greece - 2:30 p.m.
Italy vs. Republic of Ireland - 2:45 p.m.
Mexico vs. Ecuador - 3 p.m.
Colombia vs. Senegal - 5 p.m.
