Colombia beat Ivory Coast in 2nd-half thriller

Colombia and the Ivory Coast produced a stunning second half which saw the South Americans prevail thanks to goals from James Rodriguez and Juan Quintero.


Gervinho pulls one back in spectacular fashion

If you're aware of Gervinho, you probably know him more for his bad misses and his formerly funny hair than for his goals. But he starts for Ivory Coast for a reason: occasionally, he figures out how to do stuff like this.


That's an insane dribbling move, and kind of embarrassing for Colombia's defense. Ivory Coast still need another goal, though.


Colombia score two quick goals

After 64 minutes of poor finishing between Colombia and Ivory Coast, someone finally woke up. The deadlock between the two teams was broken by James Rodriguez, who strangely beat Didier Drogba to a great header off a set piece. It's not really the type of goal we're used to seeing from James.


Six minutes later, Juan Quintero added another


That's an absolutely gorgeous assist by Teofilo Gutierrez.

Just play with the giant soccer ball instead

James Rodriguez is a man of many talents. He scores goals, he assists goals, and he pops giant beach balls.

It's very unfortunate that this thing didn't interfere with play, or that they didn't decide to just play with the huge ball. It's not THAT big.



Serey Die sobbed during the national anthem

Serey Die was extremely emotional before the Ivory Coast played Colombia, and sobbed his eyes out during the national anthem.

There were rumors that Die was weeping because his father shortly before the game, but these turned out to be quite false.


Ibarbo starts up front again for Colombia

Colombia have named an unchanged side to take on the Ivory Coast, while Salomon Kalou has been dropped in favour of Max Gradel.
