Argentina go back to their old lineup while Iran stay defensive

Thanks for bringing back the fun, Alejandro Sabella.

Argentina 1, Iran 0: Messi bails out La Albiceleste

Argentina manager Alejandro Sabella tried out a new lineup in the first half against Bosnia and Herzegovina, then quickly changed back to his normal team after realizing it wasn't going to work. After the match, he admitted he made a mistake, and he's gone back to the team that was superb throughout most of World Cup qualifying -- a unique hybrid 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 that mostly defies formation notation.

Iran have only made one change, introducing Masoud Shojaei in midfield. Starting him over Khosro Heydari is definitely an attacking change, though this Iran team will still be extremely defensive and try to hold on for a draw, banking on going for a better result against Bosnia.

Argentina lineup (4-3-3): Sergio Romero; Marcos Rojo, Ezekiel Garay, Federico Fernandez, Pablo Zabaleta; Javier Mascherano, Fernando Gago, Angel Di Maria; Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuain, Sergio Aguero

Iran lineup (4-5-1): Alireza Haghighi; Mehrdad Pooladi, Pejman Montazeri, Amir Hossein Sadeghi, Jalal Hosseini; Jevad Nekounam, Andranik Teymourian, Masoud Shojaei; Ehsan Hajsafi, Reza Ghoochannejhad, Ashkan Dejagah
