Two fast goals make it 2-0 Mexico

Mexico only need a draw against Croatia to progress to the knockout stages of the World Cup, and they're in excellent position to grab that result or better after Rafa Marquez's goal in the 72nd minute. They should have had a couple of penalties and have come close to scoring on more occasions than the Croats, and now they finally have their lead.

Then, Mexico struck again, with Andres Guardado scoring off a great move. 'Chicharito' Javier Hernandez made an unselfish pass to Oribe Peralta, who squared for an open Guardado, resulting in this.

Croatia are in trouble. They now need to score three times.

Mexico screwed out of clear penalties

The push in the back and the handball by Darijo Srna here are both very, very blatant. I'm not really sure how the referee didn't whistle for a penalty before Andres Guardado even had a chance to get this shot off, and then the second penalty is even more obvious.

Once again, the referees aren't being kind to Mexico, and their manager, Miguel Herrera, is super over it.
