Gilberto nearly comes to blows with Jermain Defoe then scores first MLS goal

Gilberto's first season in MLS has not exactly gone as planned, having failed to score in any of his first nine appearances for Toronto FC. He may have finally had a moment that turns his season around.

Just moments after nearly coming to blows with fellow Designated Player Jermain Defoe over who would take a free kick from about 25 yards out in Friday's match against the New York Red Bulls, Gilberto finally got off the schneid with an absolute rocket.

Of course Defoe struck a wide smile after the ball hit the back of the net and the teammates shared a passionate hug afterward.

The only problem? Although the goal gave Toronto FC the lead, the Red Bulls ultimately tied the score in stoppage time.
