Argentina wore their home kits for the fourth consecutive match as they were taken to the wire (and nearly to penalties) by Switzerland. The Swiss, the last Puma team in the competition following Algeria's exit yesterday, nearly equalized at the death had Blerim Džemaili's late header not cannoned off the post and gone out off of his knee. Expect to see Argentina's home kits again in the next round as they face the winners of the Round of 16's final match.

The Americans took Belgium to the wire, nearly winning the match right at the death in second half added time. A pair of quickfire goals in extra time from the Belgians seemed to resign the United States to a sad fate but a late US goal meant that the Yanks were not dead and buried. The Americans' exit from the tournament means that there are just one Lotto, one Burrda, three Nike, and three adidas teams left in the running to lift the trophy on the 13th of July.

The Boots

Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero had what was without a doubt the most interesting boot spot of the day, running out in a pair of adidas Battle Pack F50 adizero boots. His were a bit different, however, bearing a completely blacked-out upper with white Sprintframe outsole.

Julian Green made things interesting for the United States Men's National Team in his adidas Battle Pack F50 adizero boots. The 19-year-old was introduced into proceedings just ahead of the extra time break and went on to score his first American goal in his competitive debut just two minutes later.

It would be heartbreak for the Yanks though thanks to the Belgian pair of Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku. Their goals came on 93 minutes and 105 minutes, respectively with Lukaku's proving to be the match winner. Both players scored in Nike Mercurial Superfly boots.
