Gabriel Gomez's team leading third goal of the season was not enough to keep the Philadelphia Union from dropping three points, as the home team gave up two late goals to lose to the San Jose Earthquakes 2-1.

The Philadelphia Union have had plenty of cap room to work with in their first two seasons, but this year is significantly different. Based upon projections by the Brotherly Game, Philadelphia will have a little over $100,000 to spend in excess cap and two roster spots to use it for, if the team chooses to add more players.

The Philadelphia Union continued their youth minded approach to player acquisitions today, officially signing academy star Cristhian Hernandez to a Home Grown Player contract. Details of the contract were not released to the public, per team and Major League Soccer (MLS) policies.
