The Philadelphia Union dropped three points to Toronto FC, losing 1-0 at BMO Field in Canada. The loss gave TFC their first win of the 2012 MLS season, and the team's first points as well.

Lionard Pajoy opened the scoring in the 21st minute off of a Keon Daniel freekick, and Chandler Hoffman slotted home a Raymon Gaddis pass in the 88th minute to help the Philadelphia Union beat FC Schalke 04.

The Philadelphia Union have had plenty of cap room to work with in their first two seasons, but this year is significantly different. Based upon projections by the Brotherly Game, Philadelphia will have a little over $100,000 to spend in excess cap and two roster spots to use it for, if the team chooses to add more players.

The Philadelphia Union lost the first friendly of their preseason trip to Costa Rica, falling 1-0 to current Primera División de Costa Rica leaders - three points clear of Deportivo Saprissa - Municipal Perez Zeledon. A one minute video, uploaded by Costa Rican news outlet Everardo Herrera, shows the Union and Municipal Perez finishing the first half in a scoreless draw, then giving up a second half goal that was the eventual winner.

SuperDraft selections Greg Jordan and Raymon Gaddis join fellow draftee Chandler Hoffman as members of the Union, while Krystian Witkowski and Antoine Hoppenot are the only two Supplemental Draft picks under contract for Philadelphia. Also signed was goalkeeper Chase Harrison.
