VanCanucks Vancouver Canucks Updates: Rome is out, Ballard is in. Bieksa is a game time decision, and Sulzer will slot in if #3 can’t play.

Via the Canucks' Twitter Feed. Also, Mason Raymond is not ready to play yet.

Looks like Burrows back with the Sedins. Kesler with Booth and Raymond. Higgins-Hodgson-Hansen. Lappy-Malhotra-Weise. Ballard skating with Sulzer on defence.

Hosea Cheung on Twitter. So, what do you think of those lines? Who's excited to see MayRay back in action (if we can now assume he is)?

Canuck coach Alain Vigneault is expected to brief reporters later today on the status of Kesler and defenceman Keith Ballard, who also missed practice after leaving Wednesday's game with a back injury.

That from the Vancouver Sun. Kesler was not at practice. Luongo practiced early but it was not a full practice for him. Vigneault, according to Tony Gallagher was bag skating the boys this morning and calling them out. Also, Eddie Lack has been sent back down to Chicago. The Canucks don't play again until Sunday. Update: Via the Canucks twitter feed: Mason Raymond has been cleared for contact, Luongo is day to day, no timetable for Ballard's return (back) and Kesler (shoulder) should be ready to play on Sunday.

"I would say that I wouldn't be surprised that they would take the morning skate with us for the LA game (in Vancouver on Thursday)," Vigneault said. "That would be a first step, a little morning skate, 15 to 20 minutes. Then we'd have to see how that goes."

From the Vancouver Sun "They" being Alex Edler and Andrew Alberts. Nice! Also in that article: Dan Hamhuis watched the team practice yesterday and according to Kevin Bieksa is feeling much better today..a lot more positive. He is anxious to re-join the team on the ice.

...But Canucks assistant GM Lorne Henning explained that even though defencemen Keith Ballard ($4.2-million cap hit) and Lee Sweatt ($650,00 cap hit) are injured, it's possible they could both be back sooner than the 10 games/24 days minimum out of action that would be required if they were put on LTIR to remove their salaries from the books. "(Ballard) has been improving pretty well," said Hennning and Lee (Sweatt) is in the same boat."

via Jim Jamieson at The Province. FYI, Ballard has missed 3 games so far and technically, even though he would have been sent back down to Manitoba had he not been injured, Sweatt has missed 5 games. No word on Hamhuis yet who is in Vancouver resting his weary head.

Vigneault said Wednesday that checking centre Ryan Johnson, who crashed frighteningly into the boards against the Red Wings, was discharged from hospital late Tuesday night and wanted to practise with teammates on Wednesday. Johnson hit his head after losing an edge during a high-speed puck chase and is expected to be out a minimum of one week in accordance with the National Hockey League protocol on concussions.

That from the Vancouver Sun. The article also mentions Luongo saying that he'll only need a few days off in order to feel well enough to play again.
