Before Toronto FC took to the field against Chivas USA there was a moment that meant so much more than anything that took place during the 90 minutes of play. The club planned for a moment of silence to show their respects for Italian midfielder Piermario Morosini who suffered heart failure while playing for Livorno in Italian Serie B. The moment of silence for the player was noticed by La Gazzetta in Italy as one of the many moving tributes to the 25 year old midfielder who was on loan from Udinese this season. The story of the midfielders life and death is really heart breaking and certainly worth taking a moment to read about. It is also worth reading about the many moving tributes including from Udinese and Di Nitale who have promised to look after his ailing sister. For Toronto fans there is a need to commend you for actually proving to be able to observe a moment of silence. Many times fans fail to show respect so sadly it has gotten to the point where it is of note that people show respect. The showing on the field may not have been something to be proud of but when you think back to the pregame moment of silence you know that there is so much more to life than just the game no matter how beautiful it is.
