Dec 13, 2011 - Rising Australian tennis star Bernad Tomic owns a high-performance BMW M3 sports car. Now, he's under investigation for dangerous driving, or "hooning."
Tomic, who is on P-plates, has a special exemption from the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads to drive the high-performance vehicle but only to events directly related to tennis. In Australia, a P-plate is a provisional license given to a driver of at least 17 years old. The license is valid for three years but it must be displayed in the car.
The 19-year-old driver handles an orange V8. The car's speed, which can exceed 250 km/h (or 153 mph), is electronically limited.

In a statement, Queensland police said they were investigating "a number of alleged traffic offences and breaches of the exemption" by Tomic.
The rising tennis player denied the allegations of hooning, saying he was the victim of the Gold Coast Police trying to make an example of him.
''He just wanted to bust me at the scene and he even told me himself he wanted to put me in the papers,' Tomic said.
