The 2012 Australian Open is just over two weeks away, but the first tennis major of the year has already found out its missing one of the best players on the circuit. American James Blake has announced that he'll miss the Aussie portion of the circuit for a second consecutive year.
Blake had been working at making a comeback from a knee injury, though it hasn't been announced if that's the reason he needed to withdraw from the Aussie Open along with the Brisbane International tournament earlier in January. The Australian Open tournament director announced Blake being out on Tuesday, according to a report from the AFP.
American James Blake is set to miss the Australian Open for a second straight year after tournament director Craig Tiley posted the news on Twitter.
"Just got word that James Blake has withdrawn from the Australian Open and Brisbane. Sorry to hear this and we wish James all the best," Tiley tweeted.
The Australian Open is scheduled to start on Jan. 16 while the Brisbane International begins on the first day of the new year in Australia.
