Wimbledon Results: Novak Djokovic Wins Despite Poodle Pierre's Absence

First, Novak Djokovic took the No. 1 ranking from Rafael Nadal. Then, he beat him to become Wimbledon champion.

Djokovic captured his third career Grand Slam title Sunday with a 6-4, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 victory on the famed Centre Court.

Reality had yet to set in following the match for the Belgrade native, who felt he was "still dreaming" after claiming his eighth title of the year, including the second one at a grand slam event after besting Andy Murray at the Australian Open.

"I managed to achieve a lifetime goal and I managed to make my dream come true," Djokovic said. "It's just an incredible feeling that I'm never going to forget. This is the best day of my tennis career."

The win was even more impressive when you factor in that Djokovic did it in spite of his pet poodle's absence. Novak's dog Pierre was not allowed in the UK, something that put the world's best tennis player "in distress." If I'm Pierre, however, I'm concerned right now. Clearly he wasn't the good luck charm he might have thought he was.
