Sep 8, 2011 - Two-straight days of rain-outs at the 2011 U.S. Open mean that, weather-permitting, Thursday is going to be one of the jam-packed and star-studded days of tennis in a long time. You name the top tennis star and they're probably in action today, including Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick on the men's draw and Caroline Wozniacki, Serena Williams and Vera Zvonareva on the women's side.
As long as we avoid another day of rain, expect to see a lot of great tennis Thursday. Especially with a trip to the quarterfinals and semifinals on the line for everyone, depending on where they left off.
Here are the key matches for Wednesday:
Men's Matches:
No. 1 Novak Djokovic vs. No. 20 Janko Tipsarevic
No. 2 Rafael Nadal vs. Gilles Muller
No. 3 Roger Federer vs. No. 11 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga
No. 4 Andy Murray vs. Donald Young
No. 5 David Ferrer vs. No. 21 Andy Roddick
Women's Matches:
No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki vs. No. 10 Andrea Petkovic
No. 2 Vera Zvonareva vs. No. 9 Samantha Stosur
No. 28 Serena Williams vs. No. 17 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova
