The quarterfinal draws at the 2012 Australian Open are starting to take shape with Day 7 coming to a close. Juan Martin del Potro and women's No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki both won their overnight matches to advance. Both players will face much stiffer competition in the quarters.
Del Potro took out Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany in straight sets 6-4, 6-2, 6-1 to earn the right to play Roger Federer, himself a straight set winner on Sunday. Del Potro had fallen well out of the rankings over a year ago, but fought past a career-threatening wrist surgery to earn the tournament's 11-seed.
Wozniacki blew past No. 13 Jelena Jankovic, 6-0, in the first set of Sunday's match, and held on for a 7-5 win in the second for the victory. Jankovic broke Wozniacki to push the second set to 5-5 and set up a potential comeback . Wozniacki promptly won back break point right before taking the next game and the match. She will face last year's Australian Open champion, Kim Clijsters, in what should be a highly anticipated matchup.
