2012 Wimbledon Scores: Novak Djokovic Advances, Maria Sharapova To Finish Match Thursday

Wednesday at the 2012 Championships at Wimbledon wrapped up with No. 1 seeds Novak Djokovic and Maria Sharapova in play. Djokovic advanced with a 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 win over American Ryan Harrison. Maria Sharapova took the first set 7-6 (10), and led 3-1 over Tsvetana Pironkova in the second set before play was suspended until Thursday due to fading light.

The 20-year-old Harrison gave Djokovic a good match. However, he couldn't notch the necessary break that could have turned the tables in any of the three sets. Harrison went 0-for-6 on break chances, compared to an efficient 3-for-3 for Djokovic. Harrison also struggled serving and returning second serves. Djokovic won 82 percent of his second serves, compared to 48 percent for Harrison.

Sharapova had just won a break when play was suspended, and will serve when the match resumes on Thursday.

2012 Wimbledon Scores: Andy Roddick Wins 1st Round Match Wednesday

No. 25 Andy Roddick finally finished his first round match at the 2012 Championships at Wimbledon on Wednesday with a 7-6 (8), 6-4, 7-5 win over Great Britain's Jamie Baker. The match was suspended Tuesday in the second set due to fading light.

Roddick's powerful serve was on full display. He served up 14 aces for the match to six for Baker. Roddick placed 75 percent of his first serves in play, scoring on 72 percent. Baker was only able to put 63 percent of his first serves in, and scored on just 50 percent of his second serves. That number dipped to 43 percent in the third set.

Roddick is the second-highest American remaining in the tournament, next to No. 12 Mardy Fish. No. 10 John Isner was upset in the first round by Spain's Alejandro Falla.

2012 Wimbledon Scores: Caroline Wozniacki Upset In 1st Round

The top of the women's draw at the 2012 Championships at Wimbledon took another hit Wednesday when No. 7 Caroline Wozniacki fell to Austria's Tamira Paszek in three sets, 5-7, 7-6 (11), 6-4. Wozniacki joins No. 5 Samantha Stosur as the other major upset on the day at the All England Club.

The match picked up tied 2-2 in the first set from Tuesday with Wozniacki serving. The former world No. 1 was able to take 50 percent of her opponent's serves in the set, winning three break points.

Wozniacki started to falter from there, however. In the second set she scored on 40 percent of Paszek serves. That number dipped to 38 percent in the third. Wozniacki's serve also became sloppier. She scored on just 47 percent of her eligible first serves, and 50 percent of her second serves in the final set.

Peszek remained aggressive throughout the match, scoring 54 winners to 31 for Wozniacki, and as a result will be advancing to the second round of the tournament.

Wimbledon 2012 Scores: Sam Stosur Shocked By Arantxa Rus

The second round of the 2012 Championships at Wimbledon has its first upset. It likely won't be the last. The grass courts of Wimbledon have already had their fair share of surprises as Day 3 is underway on Wednesday.

In the latest upset, women's No. 5 seed Samantha Stosur was upended by unseeded Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands, 6-2, 0-6, 6-4. The two players split the first two sets before Rus took a 5-3 lead in the third. Rus appeared on the verge of putting it away, but Stosur battled back to win a fourth set and regain the serve. After getting a 30-love edge on the serve, Stosur knocked a couple of balls into the net and winged one wide of the court on a very bad stroke. Stosur looked out of sorts and Rus took advantage, taking the set and the win.

Wimbledon 2012 Scores: Roger Federer Rolls To Round 3

The second round of the 2012 Championships at Wimbledon got underway on Wednesday on the famous grass courts of the world's most well-known Grand Slam event. While the men's second round matches are just beginning, one of the tournament's top seeds has had little trouble already advancing.

Men's No. 3 seed Roger Federer had little difficulty dispatching opponent Fabio Fognini, defeating the unseeded Italian player in three dominating sets, 6-1, 6-3, 6-2. Federer will now advance to the third round without having faced a significant challenge. Federer overwhelmed his first round opponent, Albert Ramos, on Monday, eliminating Ramos without ever yielding more than one game in any of the three sets.

Men's No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic and women's No. 1 seed Maria Sharapova will have their second round matches later on Wednesday.
