No. 4 Andy Murray advanced to the semifinals at the 2012 Championships at Wimbledon with a 6-7 (12), 7-6 (13), 6-4, 7-6 (11) win over No. 7 David Ferrer in the men's quarterfinals Wednesday. Murray moves on to face No. 5 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga as both players pursue their first career Grand Slam titles.
Wednesday's match featured two technically-sound players at their absolute best. Both had plenty of chances to take control of the match with break point opportunities, but Ferrer went just 2-for-12 and Murray went 3-for-9 for the match.
A 27-minute rain delay at 5-5 in the fourth set seemed to favor Ferrer at the time. Momentum appeared to be slowly tilting in favor of the Brit. In the end, Murray's bit of extra strength over the 5'9 Ferrer prevailed. Murray served 18 aces to six, and 61 winners to 44 for his opponent.

No. 5 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga joined Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer in the semifinals at the 2012 Championships at Wimbledon with a 7-6 (12), 4-6, 7-6 (10), 6-2, win over No. 27 Philipp Kohlschreiber. Tsonga now awaits the winner between No. 4 Andy Murray and No. 7 David Ferrer.
The ebullient Frenchman had 17 winners to 10 for Kohlschrediber, and 43 total winners in the match. The first three sets were tightly contested, but Tsonga looked dominant in the fourth. Kohlschreiber won just one of the 17 receiving points he faced, and was broken twice.
Tsonga is still looking for his first Grand Slam title. He has now made the semifinals twice at the All England Club, the first time being last season. His only finals appearance at a Slam came in 2008 at the French Open.

Novak Djokovic advanced to the semifinals with a three-set win over No. 31 Florian Mayer, 6-4, 6-1, 6-4, in the men's quarterfinals at the 2012 Championships at Wimbledon on Wednesday. Mayer never put up much of a fight against the No. 1 player in the world, who's looking to repeat as Wimbledon champion. Djokovic continued his deadly consistent play, overwhelming Mayer with his serve and capping it off with an ace for the inevitable win.
Djokovic will next face No. 3 Roger Federer, also a straight-set victor in the quarters. The two highest ranked remaining players in the quarterfinals looked dominant during their concurrent matches Wednesday morning, setting up a huge clash on Friday at the All England Club. The two have never met on the grass and the match will certainly be the top draw on Friday.
