Wimbledon Women's Final: Serena Williams Wins First Set

Stay connected with SB Nation

American Serena Williams powered through the first set against Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska, 6-1, as the 2012 Wimbledon women's singles final got underway Saturday at the All England Club. Williams' serve and power shots looked to be too much for Radwanska to handle as Williams surrendered just a game during the set.

Williams had three aces and won 87 percent (13-15) on her first serve. Radwanska made two aces and won 52 percent (13-25) on her first serve.

If Williams wins, this will be her fifth Wimbledon singles title in her career. Radwankska got a bit of a break to collect herself as play was suspended for a short while between the games due to the rain. It's going to take a big rally and some strategy for Radwanska to deal with the power of Williams.
