The first stop on the U.S. Open Series begins on Monday. Serena Williams will defend her title at the Bank of the West Classic.
Just a day after the Championships at Wimbledon have been completed, the 2012 Bank of the West Classic will get underway. Monday marks the first day of the first round matches in the WTA Tour event, which will be the first women's tournament in the annual U.S. Open Series.
The tournament will be held on the Stanford campus and you can find a complete bracket by clicking here. The top four seeds in the tournament -- newly-crowned Wimbledon champion and defending Bank of the West champion Serena Williams, Marion Bartoli, Dominika Cibulkova and Jelena Jankovic -- will receive first-round byes. Williams will play her first match on Wednesday.
The following matches will take place on Monday. All times are PT.
Starting at 11 a.m.:
Yanina Wickmeyer (BEL) [5] vs. Kai-Chen Chang (TPE)
Michelle Larcher de Brito (POR) vs. Jarmila Gajdosova (AUS)
Grace Min (USA) vs. Chanelle Scheepers (RSA) [6]
Not before 7:00 p.m.:
Sloane Stephens (USA) vs. Heather Watson (GBR)
Melinda Czink (HUN) vs. Coco Vandeweghe (USA)
