Top-seeded Victoria Azarenka had little trouble in her opening-round match at the 2012 U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. The 23-year-old from Belarus dominated Russian Alexandra Panova, 6-0, 6-1. Azarenka has 12 career singles titles, but has never been able to advance past the fourth round of the U.S. Open.

The world No. 1 cruised through her initial match, winning seven of eight possible break points. Azarenka was dominant on her first serve, winning 78% of those points. Contrast that with Panova, who struggled mightily, winning an abysmal 13% of her first-serve points. Azarenka also used her 5'11 stature to take five of six net points.

Azarenka is looking for her second Grand Slam title of 2012. She was victorious at the Australian Open earlier this year.
