The No. 8-seed on the women's side, Caroline Wozniacki has been upset by unseeded Irina-Camelia Begu in her opening-round match of the 2012 U.S. Open. Wozniacki put up very little fight, as Begu won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.

Wozniacki has been troubled by a knee injury, and she was tended to by a trainer in the middle of the second set. She struggled mightily on the night, amassing only four winners compared to 22 unforced errors.

Begu was not broken in the match, as Wozniacki was 0-4 on break points. Begu won 75 percent of the points on her first serve and 63 percent on her second. Wozniacki was only able to take half of the points on her first serve and 43 percent on her second.

Wozniacki has struggled in 2012, and risks falling out of the top ten with this loss.
