Argentina's Juan Martin Del Potro was able to win his Wednesday match at the 2012 U.S. Open in straight sets over Frenchman Florent Serra by a score of 6-4, 7-6 and 6-4.

The No. 7 seed Del Potro was challenged more than he thought in his match, but he was able to get past Serra through his serves, as he had 19 aces compared to just eight against. Del Porto also performed well on all of his first serve attempts; he converted 85 percent of those into points while Serra managed only a 66 percent conversion rate.

However, Del Potro made it easier on Serra to stay in the match as he had nine double faults, and the unforced error tallies were nearly identical -- 29 for Del Potro to 31 for Serra.

With the win, Del Porto will now face the winner between American Bryan Harrison and Germany's Benjamin Becker.
