Victoria Azarenka, the world's No. 1 ranked player, cruised to a two-set victory on Friday night at the 2012 U.S. Open. Azarenka faced off with Jie Zheng, the world's 28th-ranked player, who did not put up much of a fight. Azarenka simply dominated every facet of the match.
Azarenka had 18 winners, while Zheng had only six. And while Azarenka committed 12 unforced errors, her opponent had 22. Both players had their serves top out at 102 mph.
The first set was a clean 6-0 sweep for Azarenka. She won the second set 6-1, clinching a third round victory to advance to the quarterfinals. She will face unranked Anna Tatishvili on Sunday.
