Rain has been troublesome at the 2012 U.S. Open, and it suspended play once again on Wednesday. The courts became too wet and matches were delayed at 11:20 a.m. ET.

Andy Roddick continued his fourth-round match against Juan Martin Del Potro, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday, on Wednesday morning. The match was halted as Roddick held a 1-0 lead in first-set tiebreak.

Men's No. 8 Janko Tipsarevic was also in action when the rains came. He leads 5-2 in the first set over German Philipp Kohlschreiber with a trip to the quarterfinals on the line.

Maria Sharapova may have been pleased to see play suspended, as she has struggled at the start of her quarterfinal match against 11th-seeded Marion Bartoli. Sharapova is already down two breaks in the first set, and trails Bartoli 4-0.
