Janko Tipsarevic moved on to his second consecutive U.S. Open quarterfinals after defeating Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-2 Wednesday afternoon.

Tipsarevic led 5-2 in the first set Tuesday before play was suspended by rain, and picked up right where he left off to win in straight sets.

Kohlschreiber, who was coming off one of the best performances of his career against John Isner, didn't seem to be the same player he was in the previous round despite some superior serving. Ultimately, it was the Kohlschreibere's large amount of unforced errors that cost him the match as he finished the round with 53.

With the loss, the 19th-seeded Kohlschreiber has now failed to reach the quarterfinals in all 32 of his career Grand Slam appearances.

The eighth-seeded Tipsarevic of Serbia will now face the fourth-seeded David Ferrer of Spain with the victory.
