BNP Paribas Open 2013 results: Mardy Fish wins in return

Mardy Fish was back in action for the first time since appearing in the 2012 U.S. Open. Here's a look at his win, along with the rest of the Sunday's action at Indian Wells.

Mardy Fish hasn't played in a pro tournament since he walked off the courts at the 2012 U.S. Open. A heart condition kept him away from tennis for a significant period, but he got off on the right foot with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win over Bobby Reynolds in his return at the BNP Paribas Open.

Fish, the No. 32 seed, rallied to win the last four games on the third set against Reynolds, ousting his opponent in one hour and 57 minutes. After withdrawing from the fourth round of the U.S Open last year due to health concerns, Fish now finds himself in the third round at Indian Wells, Calif. He will face the winner of James Blake vs. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Third-ranked Andy Murray dropped his first set against Evgeny Donskoy, but cruised through the final two frames to win 5-7, 6-2, 6-2. No. 7 Juan Martin del Potro, No. 11 Nicolas Almagro, No. 12 Marin Cilic and No. 16 Kei Nishikori all won their Sunday matches in straight sets.

On the women's side, second-seeded Maria Sharapova defeated No. 25 Carla Suarez Navarro 7-5, 6-3 in Round 3. She will take on Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino, who defeated No. 14 Roberta Vinci 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, in the fourth round of play.
