The round of 16 at the BNP Paribas Open wrapped up on Wednesday, and the Men's Single's quarterfinals will get under way on Thursday. Eight players remain, and there's some very exciting tennis remaining.
On Wednesday, Tomas Berdych cruised past Richard Gasquet to make it into the quaterfinals. He dominated the match from start to finish, winning it 6-1, 7-5. He'll take on Kevin Anderson on Thursday in the first quarterfinal matchup.
Anderson is having himself quite the tournament. He's unseeded, but took out the No. 4-seeded David Ferrer in the second round. On Wednesday, he took out No. 13 Gilles Simon, winning that one 6-3, 1-6, 6-4. Simon took him by surprise in the second set, but he handily took the third to secure his spot.
Roger Federer was taken to his limit against Stanislas Wawrinka on Wednesday. Federer eventually won the match, but was pushed to a tiebreak twice, one of which he lost. He won in the end, though, 6-3, 7-6, 7-5. He'll take on Rafael Nadal, who bested Ernests Gulbis on Wednesday.
The WTA Singles semifinals will get under way on Thursday, as well. No. 4 Angelique Kerber will take on No. 7 Samantha Stosur, and No. 1 Victoria Azarenka will take on No. 8 Caroline Wozniacki.
