BNP Paribas Open 2013: Semifinals set to begin Saturday after Novak Djokovic, Juan Martin Del Potro advance

The semifinals of the BNP Paribas Open are set for Saturday as Novak Djokovic takes on Juan Martin Del Potro and Tomas Berdych takes on Rafael Nadal.

The ATP Singles semifinals are set to go down at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, Calif., on Saturday. The latter half of the quarterfinals concluded on Friday, and the matchups are set as No. 1 Novak Djokovic takes on No. 7 Juan Martin Del Potro in one half of the bracket and No. 5 Rafael Nadal takes on No. 6 Tomas Berdych in the other half.

Djokovic cruised to victory in his matchup on Friday, easily blowing past Jo-Wilfried Tsong in a 6-3, 6-1 win. Djokovic has won 22 matches in a row, dating back to Oct. 31. On Friday, Del Potro showed that he's a game opponent, though. He outlasted No. 3 Andy Murray to pick up his victory, losing the first set, but ultimately coming back to win the second and third sets in dominating fashion.

On Thursday, Berdych ended the upset campaign of Kevin Anderson, who had previously eliminated Gilles Simon and No. 4 David Ferrer. He won his match, 6-4, 6-4 and will face Nadal in his semifinal match. Nadal absolutely dominated an ailing Roger Federer to advance, winning that match, 6-4, 6-2.

It should be an exciting day of action. Nadal's knee injury continues to be a point of focus, as does Djokovic's win streak. Seeing which of these two gives, if either of them do, in the semifinals is definitely a reason to watch.
