2013 Sony Open Tennis: Andy Murray, Serena Williams advance on Tuesday

Andy Murray advanced to the men's quarterfinals, and Serena Williams dropped China's Li Na in the women's quarterfinals of the 2013 Sony Open on Tuesday.

No. 2 Andy Murray defeated Italy's Andreas Seppi 6-2, 6-4 on Tuesday to advance to the men's quarterfinal of the 2013 Sony Open. He awaits the winner of No. 6 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and No. 9 Marin Cilic in the tournament in Key Biscayne, Fla.

Also in men's fourth-round action, No. 3 David Ferrer pushed past Japan's Kei Nishikori 6-4, 6-2 on Tuesday. In quarterfinals action, he'll face Jürgen Melzer, who beat Spain's Albert Ramos on Tuesday in sets of 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. And USA No. 17 seed Sam Querrey fell 6-1, 6-1 to Tomas Berdych. Berdych, the No. 4 seed, will face Richard Gasquet, who defeated Nicolas Almagro in the quarters.

In women's action, top-ranked Serena Williams overcame China's Li Na in sets of 6-3, 7-6 (5). Williams did so despite recording six double-faults on the day.

She awaits a semifinals matchup with either No. 4 Agnieszka Radwanska or No. 30 Kirsten Flipkens.
