2013 French Open: Matches and TV schedule for Friday at Roland Garros

USA TODAY Sports

Federer, Nadal, Serena, and Tsonga headline the action Friday on the clay courts.

The action is heating up at the French Open, as both the men's and women's singles draws move into the third round and top-ranked competitors begin to collide. Friday's schedule features a former champion and a local favorite going up against top-25 opponents, as well as third-round matches for seven-time French Open champ Rafael Nadal and top women's seed Serena Williams.

Friday begins with No. 2 women's seed Maria Sharapova finishing her second-round match against Eugenie Bouchard. Later in the day, Williams takes the court, along with No. 4 seed Agnieszka Radwanska and No. 5 Sara Errani. Angelique Kerber, the No. 8 seed, faces a tough test from No. 29 Varvara Lepchenko in Friday's only women's match between ranked foes.

As for the men, both Nadal and Roger Federer are in action. Nadal takes on unranked Martin Kilzan, while Federer faces No. 30 Julien Benneteau. No. 6 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, almost always favored by his countrymen in the stands, draws fellow Frenchman No. 25 Jeremy Chardy. Tsonga made his deepest French Open run ever last year, reaching the quarterfinals before bowing out to top seed Novak Djokovic.

All of Friday's singles matches involving ranked competitors are listed below. A full schedule of Friday's matches, as well as the current draw, can be found at the French Open's official website. Live scoring is available at Sports Illustrated.
