Most of the top seeds were victorious at the U.S. Open on Saturday, though we did see a top 10 seed on the women's side eliminated. Camila Giorgi managed to upset No. 6 seed Caroline Wozniacki, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Giorgi was unperturbed when she dropped the first set, and battled back to cleanly take the next two.
Giorgi moves to the fourth round on the back of her 46 winners, compared to Wozniacki's 13. The top five on the women's side remain intact, however.
Men's No. 2 Rafael Nadal looked great in his win over the hard-serving Ivan Dodig. It was his third straight-set victory of the tournament, and has fought off all five break points he's faced to this point. He won the match, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3. He'll advance to take on Philipp Kohlschreiber, the tournament's No. 22 seed. Kohlschreiber upset top American John Isner on Saturday as well, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, 7-6(5).
No. 7 Roger Federer easily advanced past unseeded Adrian Mannarino in his matchup, 6-3, 6-0, 6-2. Federer has looked very good for this year's tournament, which is a great sign given the injuries he's dealt with over the past few months.
Other top seeds victorious were No. 4 David Ferrer, No. 18 Janko Tipsarevic, No. 10 Milos Raonic and No. 8 Richard Gasquet. On the women's side, No. 10 Roberta Vinci and No. 2 Victoria Azarenka were both victorious.
