Shakhtar Donetsk vs. Chelsea, 2012 UEFA Champions League: Halftime score 1-0, hosts looking stellar

Shakhtar Donetsk lead Chelsea 1-0 at halftime of their Champions League encounter, but it's hard not to wonder if the hosts will regret not scoring more. They were the superior side in the first half and had plenty of chances to score, but were only able to find the net once.

That one goal came in the 3rd minute, via right winger Alex Texeira. Willian indirectly set up the goal with an attempted shot, which was blocked by John Terry. The ball dribbled through the defense to Texeira, unfortunately for Chelsea, and he placed an impressive finish past Petr Cech at the near post.

Besides that goal, which was not Cech's fault in the slightest, the Chelsea keeper was a brick wall. He made fantastic stops on Henrik Mkhitaryan and Olexandr Kucher at the end of the half to preserve a one-goal deficit.

The scoreline isn't the only bad news for Chelsea. Besides going down, they also lost Frank Lampard in the first half. He was forced to come off with an injury in the 18th minute and was replaced by Eden Hazard.
