Zenit St Petersburg spent big money in the summer transfer window to help hulk up their lineup just for the Champions League. It didn't help in the first round of matches as the Russians got hammered by Malaga. As for Milan, their troubles are well documented and even though they drew against Anderlecht, it's not the kind of results they are used to. Hence the importance of today's match.
Zenit have both their big summer signings in the lineup with Hulk up top and Axel Witsel back after missing the Malaga match due to an injury. The midfield remains thin with Sergei Semak unavailable and Igor Densiov in the dog club's dog house.
Milan's Stephan El Shaarawy has been on a good run of form in the past few matches and they'll need him to have a big match if they hope to keep their hopes of advancing to the knockout round alive. Midfielder Antonio Nocerino and second leading scorer Giampaolo Pazzini are on the bench.
