"FSU to the Big 12 – 'It is Inevitable' "
According to two people with the strongest ties possible to Florida State's Athletic Department, FSU fully plans on exiting the Atlantic Coast Conference. Florida State will begin its transition to the Big 12 Conference beginning this June. One source went as far as to say, "at this point the move is inevitable."
All your sausage are belong to Boeheim

Schadenfruede from Purdue Fans
http://www.hammerandrails.com/2012/3/14/2870191/schadenfruede
When Branden Dawson (hereafter referred to as "That f'n puke") went down for the Fighting Izzos I felt badly for their fanbase (sans 1 idiot who decided to deride Robbie).
But, God help me, when Fab Melo was declared ineligible for the Syracuse Orange tonight I was giddy with happiness.
Why Syracuse will be in the ACC in 2012
I’m sure we would like to get moving during the 2012 season, but we all know it comes down to the financials. Below I've run the numbers and it just makes sense to follow WVU and leave this year:

Former SU Goalie signed to MLS deal
Former Syracuse goalkeeper Jeremy Vuolo has signed with the New York Red Bulls.
Vuolo spent his senior season at Syracuse after playing three years at Hartwick College.
As a senior in 2010 for the Orange, Vuolo started 15 games. He was named the team's Most Valuable Player after ranking fourth in the Big East in saves and saves per game.

Judge Dana O'Neil
Really Dana, have you not read ANYTHING that came into light the past 24hrs (or 6-7 years for that matter)...you sound extremely under-informed.
ESPN is hunting for stories now
"Syracuse police say they are investigating an allegation that Syracuse University assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine molested a team ball boy for more than a dozen years beginning in the mid-1980s.
Police stressed to Outside The Lines they are in the early stages of the investigation.
The alleged victim, Bobby Davis, now 39, told Outside the Lines that Fine molested him beginning in 1983 shortly before Davis entered the seventh grade. Davis, the team's ball boy for six years beginning in 1984, said the abuse occurred at Fine's home, at the Syracuse basketball facilities, and on road trips, including the 1987 Final Four."
WVU beats L'Ville in race to Big 12
According to CBS Sports, the Big 12's Board of Directors voted this morning to indeed invite West Virginia to the Conference despite an apparent last minute plea from Louisville to invite the Cardinals instead. The league was split between adding West Virginia or Louisville to replace Missouri, which is expected to leave the league for the SEC.
Missouri still hasn't officially left the Big 12. The Tigers are still negotiating an exit fee to leave the league. The SEC's Digital Network, an official website of the SEC, accidentally posted a story Thursday night that Missouri would join the SEC on July 1, 2012.
If Missouri joins the SEC next season, West Virginia may have to wait until 2014 to leave the Big East for the Big 12.
The Big East has a 27-month notice before teams may leave the league. West Virginia is the latest team to announce its leaving the Big East Conference. Pittsburgh and Syracuse are headed to the ACC and TCU will join the Big 12 next season.
With Big East Commissioner John Marinatto having recently met with Air Force and Boise State, and news that Houston, SMU, and UCF have scheduled Board meetings to consider moving to the Big East, the conference's realignment landscape is taking shape, and though it is a shape of suck, the Big 12's decision to take only WVU means the Big East has hope to retain its prized BCS bid.

The Big East wants to get to a 12-team football league and is expected to issue invitations to Boise State, Air Force, Navy, Houston, SMU and Central Florida. That would increase the membership to 11 teams.
Big East commissioner John Marinatto and associate commissioner Nick Carparelli visited Air Force officials on Wednesday and Boise State officials on Thursday.
With the loss of West Virginia, the Big East would need a 12th member. Sources have told CBSSports.com that the Big East's potential Western schools are in favor of adding BYU. It's unknown if the Cougars would be interested.
Temple also is another likely candidate.
The Big East could extend official invitations next week. The league's presidents are scheduled to meet with Marinatto in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
Wonder what Rick is going to blog about now...

Youth Impact Program pairs city youngsters with SU football players
"One day, when Phillips was on his way to help mentor and coach a group of 10-to 12-year-old boys from Syracuse’s inner city, coaches saw him carrying two boxes.
When asked what he had, Thomas, a product of one of Miami’s tougher neighborhoods, said he’d gone up to SU’s Skytop apartments where he collected shoes for some of the boys because they didn’t have the proper footwear.
'Then you know you’re doing the right thing,' Marrone said Wednesday at a news conference announcing SU’s second year of involvement with the charity effort founded by former NFL linebacker Riki Ellison."
As Sean McNally of Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician says, all we have to go on right now are the reports — reports from one of the better college hoops beats in the country and (what in my experience has been) a credible blogger — and those reports do not paint Melo is a very good light.

With all this talk about being NY's college team, it actually looks like the Carrier Dome is right next to Milford NJ based on all of our "home" games.

The End Is Nigh: UConn Defeats WVU
Well there goes any respect from our WVU victory last week. WVU's fans have now gone from 50/50 on firing their coach to 100%:
http://www.smokingmusket.com/2010/10/29/1782636/game-thread-of-friday-night-lights-wvu-vs-uconn#comments
can we borrow from Nunes...I think the Road to Toronto (or whatever bowl is replacing it) is certainly appropriate for us
And UConn's take:

This is the first time UConn beat WVU, and the fans stormed the field. The more the Big East become half-ass backwards, the happier I am that we have HCDM!
I'd hate to see the markdown on the Rutgers gear.

Let's Go "Orange"
MADRID - Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim called for a switch to his trademark "Orange" 2-3 zone with the United States clinging to a one-point lead.
Kevin Durant did the rest, blocking shots by Ricky Rubio and Rudy Fernandez in the final seconds in the Americans' 86-85 victory over Spain on Sunday in a warmup game for the world championships.
"Jim Boeheim said, `Let's go orange,"' U.S. head coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "So we did. It was his suggestion and our guys did a good job with that."

The steak of turmoil is still cooking
The torturous divorce between Rutgers and men's basketball coach Fred Hill is getting messier, with neither party willing to back down.
On Monday, Hill received a letter from athletic director Tim Pernetti, a source confirmed to ESPN.com, but the coach has not been fired, nor has he agreed to resign.
Instead, Hill has been at work the past two days, overseeing the team's weightlifting program and making calls in his office, the source said.
Derrick Coleman files for bankruptcy
This is not the story you think it is. This is not some guy who made more than $100 million and gambled it all away in casinos, then tried to make a desperate comeback to make a little money.
Not every NBA story is about hedonism. Some, no many, players try to do the right thing.
Derrick Coleman -- the former number one overall pick, the 1991 rookie of the year who never quite reached his potential -- was investing the $87 million he made playing basketball in development deals in Detroit, trying to turn around a city in need of someone willing to make big moves there. But no city has been hit harder by the economic downturn than Detroit.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Coleman has filed for bankruptcy (via Ball Don't Lie).
Coleman's desire to invest in the Detroit area after his playing career ended contributed to his financial problems, Coleman's bankruptcy attorney Mark B. Berke said Friday.
Among Coleman's ventures is a struggling Detroit development called Coleman's Corner, an attempt to revive one of the city's most downtrodden neighborhoods. Coleman defaulted on loans related to the mall last year.
"Mr. Coleman was focused on investing in various communities throughout the city of Detroit by developing real estate, creating jobs and revitalizing business opportunities," Berke said. "Due to the state of the economy, including the decline in the real estate market, Mr. Coleman's investments could not be sustained."
Coleman, best remembered as a Net, has an NBA pension, which means he can live pretty comfortably for the rest of his life.
