I'm off early; sick today…..and I ran across an article on the front page of CNN regarding cloning that caught my attention.

It can be done, it has been done, but whether it's allowed to come to fruition in the form of human cloning has yet to be seen. Back in '02 Bushed pushed an all out ban on Human Cloning in the U.S.; "The end does not justify the means."

I for one am intrigued by the whole idea of cloning. While the DNA of a cloned specimen is not identical to its parent clone, it's close enough as to have the differences be nearly untraceable. Think DNA matches on a person linked to a crime being incorrect type of small; 20 billion to 1.

When I think about cloning I think of the half-full side. The bringing back old Sparky type of idealism. Cloning Jurassic park era dinosaurs (what would the testament do then?) through in-vitro fertilization of DNA from a Wooly Mammoth cloned embryo in today's modern elephant.

Your loved one dies, you go to a cloning-specialist-gazillionaire -extraordinaire with DNA and an adventurous female suitor and in 9 months a new, but old brother/sister/mother/father/etc. is back. Same hair, same eyes, same genes. But the experiences are gone, the memories are gone, intelligence & personality will differ, as in Nature vs Nurtures 50/50 gene/environment split. Almost as if a shell.

There are so many questions that, for the foreseeable future will go unanswered.

Imagine the amount of records and work it would take to re-birth someone who already existed? New Socials and identities for the same person with the same features, DNA, and fingerprints. Cloning would breed the New World Order of Super Criminals.

While the red tape around cloning humans appears much to large to ever tackle in any foreseeable future within our liftetime, sans a recluse doctor with a knack for experimenting the taboo, I still would love to see a cloned something brought forward seriously.

Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:
- Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test
- Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test
- Banning firearms with "thumbhole stocks" and "bullet buttons" to address attempts to "work around" prior bans

Alongside Dre and Snoop and 50, we got a good as Tupac as there has ever been.

He was holographic, but he was there. It's crazy just how realistic and fluid the hologram looked and moved.

UFC: 142 was an action packed fight card boasting six first round finishes, all the while showcasing some of the most brutal knockouts and submissions of any card in UFC history.

Between the blasting KO’s and dismembering of limbs one aspect of the night stood out beyond all others—The blatant incompetency of referee Mario Yamasaki.

Mario has been a mixed martial-arts referee since 1999 at UFC:20 "The Road to the Heavyweight Title" in Alabama. Coincidently that was also the inaugural event for Bruce Buffer’s "We are live" event introduction. Protecting fighters in over 200 sanctioned MMA bouts, Mario’s vast experience places him among the reffing elite and, rightfully so, he is head and shoulders above "tan" Dan Miragliotta and the reprehensible Steve Mazzagatti.

Outside of his refusal to acknowledge the nut-shot Matt Hughes suffered at the hands of "Twinkle Toes" in their second title fight at UFC: 52 "Dana White’s Favorite Fight….Ever" Mario is usually solid, and a referee of choice (as if there is one unless you are Brock Lesnar—may he RIP) for fighters. That being said, everyone makes mistakes.

The butterflies of victory had not yet begun to settle for Erick Silva in his return to Brazil after his knockout victory of Luis Ramos at UFC: 134, when Mario Yamasaki told the commission that he was robbing him of his obliteration of Carlos Prater, whom he had only moments ago beaten into a (T)KO stoppage in front of his home town crowd of Brazil’s finest.

The reason? Illegal Strikes to the back of the head.

Silva hits Prater with a knee to the body then lands blistering shots ending the fight. It appears out of roughly eight (8) strikes that one (1) was possibly to the back of the head, while another one definitely being a glancing/skimming shot. Forearm down to hitting the side of the head (legal) is what ended the fight.

Joe Rogan, paid to call the fights like he sees them, did just that. He became the voice for everyone watching who has a minimum of 3 marbles rolling around in their proverbial noggin and immediately “called out” Mario right then and there, live in front of world.

It looked legal to me. Lets take a look. There you catch him. Theres one to the side. That’s legal. That’s legal. That’s legal. That’s legal. There’s one that strayed. These look like legal shots to me. These don’t look like legal shots to you? Mario, what was it about this that would make you want to make this a disqualification? It looks fine from here. It seems he is hitting the side of the head. That doesn’t look like the back of the head to me, man. One may have, it looks like he is going way out of his way to try to hit the sides of the head. Is this a judgment call, are you happy with this call? How are you feeling about this, I understand you have to decide in the moment? Look Mario Yamasaki is a great referee, but I think he made a mistake here.

Droves of fans are crying out that it was unprofessional of Rogan to call out the referee in such a public fashion. Personally, I applaud Joe for having the balls to do what he did, in the way that he did it. I liken it to watching an ABC special where they set up instances to see people’s reaction, or lack thereof. Joe, like the rest of us, saw bullshit and called a spade a spade. An immediate reaction is the best reaction.

Let’s face it, society at large is full of brainless sheeple whom rather shy away and walk on by than open their mouth or doing anything at all.

Hermes Franca Sentenced to 3+ Years for...

Sexual Abuse and Unlawful Penetration.

Hermes Franca Barros, 37, pleaded guilty in Clackamas County Court on Wednesday to one count of unlawful penetration and one count of first-degree sexual abuse. He was sentenced to 3½ years in prison.

He was arraigned in May on seven counts of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of second-degree unlawful sexual penetration. The remaining counts were dismissed.

Barros will also have four and a half years of post-prison supervision and must register as a sex offender.

Barros, a resident of Jupiter, Fla., turned himself in to Clackamas County Sheriff's Deputies in May after a warrant was issued for his arrest, stemming from a December 2010 encounter with one of his students.

Perhaps lending credence to the story, and further incriminating Silva, is the fact the UFC decided to pull him from his scheduled bout against "Rampage" and book Matt Hamill in his place.

That doesn't mean he's not innocent -- but it certainly doesn't help the rampant speculation of his guilt.

For his part, Vera is just 3-5 in his last eight fights, not including the pending result of the Silva fight, which would likely be changed to a no contest if the Brazilian did indeed fail the drug test.

In looking at certain systems that we have contacts with, the numbers were a little above Liddell vs. Franklin (which did 520,000), which would indicate 550,000 to 600,000. But keep in mind both of those indicators pointed to far larger numbers for Silva vs. Sonnen then ended up materializing, but have been accurate predictors in the past. DirecTV numbers, which are the first real figures to come out, indicated a final figure around 600,000, but those numbers indicated a much bigger number than materialized last time. But as we say every time, any figures in the first two weeks are at best estimates.

Based on the reaction we got, the show didn't do all that well at the movie theaters. ...

Bar reports we had were that places were packed for the most part. About half were strong, one-quarter were way down and one-quarter were usual for a non-major show.

I had originally predicted 750,000 buys when the show was announced, but I was counting on the boxer vs. MMA gimmick catching on bigger than it did. Unlike the 8/7 show, where the buildup made me rethink upwards, I was down to thinking 550,000 by fight time, thinking the only boost would be that ESPN Sports Center was playing up the boxer vs. MMA fighter angle, and that could lead to late curiosity buys. But when Toney showed up looking out of shape, I could sense people thinking back to all the bad boxing heavyweight matches with older guys that were such a turnoff. Plus, when Toney took off his pants and his underwear rode down, it made him a comedy figure instead of a really hated guy people wanted to pay to see get shut up by the beloved veteran who did show up in shape. The dynamic I expected to be there wasn't. Plus, even though B.J. Penn has been a big draw the past two years and is one of the company's most popular fighters, and his losing his title and trying to regain it is on paper a strong drawing dynamic, people didn't care about Edgar. Edgar comes from the amateur wrestling mentality when it comes to promoting a fight and himself, and it makes him a tough sell as a headliner. Plus, their first fight was exciting in the sense it was a close fight and you didn't know who was going to win, it was not the kind of fight most fans want to see.

Randy and Rich are company guys, they do "favors," for the UFC all the time, they are both legends (Franklin will be in the HOF next round) and both are still great fighters even tho their prime champ days are behind them. I think this could end up to be FOTN.

This fight makes sense (wheres Freenow to disagree). This would be a great fight and do decent in buys-not great-but decent. MATCH the winner/loser (s) up with the winner/loser (s) of the Bones/Forrest fight.

Havent messed around with one of these RTD's in awhile. Lets start off by giving StrikeForce its deserved props. Great night of fights for FREE-can't get much better than that, and actually the commentating wasn't as bad as we've come to expect. Alright lets get into it.

Noons/Gurgel proved, yet again, that Jorge is more intrigued in putting on a "fight for the fans," and forgo any intelligent game plan. Personally, I absolutely hate when fighters do this. Gurgel, Sherk (as of late), Kongo, KOS (bar Daley), and a few others that are escaping my mind, not only don't use their strengths but completely abandon them all together-even when losing. It baffles me. As far as the late/illegal knee/punch goes-I MISSED it. I was distracted making a stiff drink for myself and a lady friend (who pretended to stay intrigued in the fights until it was over and we headed out for the night), and I didnt have the DVR recording. So fill me in.

KJ will probably get Gilbert next, So maybe Diaz is being set up with Daley.

kennedy/Jacare turned out to be just as CLOSE as I and many others expected. I chuckled when Souza was walking out and it was said "This is the guy Shields was offered to fight and refused two times, before being released." I again chuckled post fight interview when Tim was billed as "Green Beret Sniper with over 200 firefights." Some are saying they thought it was boring and too slow, but I thought it was a good fight. Tim only went for 4 takedowns (3 completed) and I thought if he would have implemented his wrestling a little more, and would have cemented a win had he done so. Tough fight and tho I thought Tim would come away with the split decision upset victory, i didnt have complaints about the result. Jacare was doing a little talking during the fight but he better keep being the big fish in a small pond, because he'd get eaten up in the UFC. ALSO, I was under the impression SF was going to be holding a tournament for the MW belt-an idea I was liking. We'll probably end up seeing Miller/jacare again.

King Mo/Feijao proved exactly what I was saying after the Mo/Mousassi fight. King Mo, while full of talent, is not ready to be lumped in with the ELITE 205lbers. The division is simply so stacked and too deep for Mo, right now, to be in the top 7-8. He did show some improvements in his striking tho. Some very nice shots and was working the body fantastic. Feijao looked bigger than Mo and was throwing some bombs, but even more impressive was his TDD. Even when Mo dumped him on his head and popped back up, seemingly, immediately. Mo go a little too confident in testing out his improving standup and he ate a HUGE knee and right hook that literally flat-backed him. You can't say the dude has a weak chin tho, he took solid, hard shots and wasn't OUT. Big John stepped in at the right time, those elbows were brutal. We actually have an interesting match looming with Feijao/Babalu and Im hoping they pair up Mo/Hendo as well.

*Notable mention goes to Chadd Riggs for crushing the Bobby Lashley wagon and sending him out on a gurney to the local hospital. Sadly, Lashley/Bautista looks more plausible.
