Al Jazeera set to make impact in battle for EPL television rights
A good look how Al Jazeera's sports outlet may significantly alter the soccer broadcasting landscape in the US.
Sounders/America SCORES fundraiser tomorrow - Zakuani to appear
Editor's note: I added this to the FP because I thought there were enough big names that it could be pretty fun. - Jeremiah
Thought I would share this email I received from the Sounders about a fundraising event for America SCORES happening Thursday in Ballard. Prize drawings and appearances by Steve Zakuani, Brad Evans, Sigi Schmid, Adrian Hanauer and the USOC trophy. Full text from the email after the jump.
Let's Go Fucito : A Sermon
Editor's note: Promoted for general awesomeness. For reference purposes, give this a listen. - Jeremiah
The following sermon is inspired by Prince (the artist, not the footballer). Call it: Let's Go Fucito.
Dearly beloved
We are gathered here today
To get through this thing called Sounders soccer
Electricity jerseys
It means knockout games and that's a scary thing
But I'm here to tell you
There's something else
The #ChurchofFucito
A world of never ending happiness
You can always see goals, day or night
So when you call up that blogger in Seattle
You know the one - Mr Sounder at Heart
Instead of asking him how much game time is left
Ask him how many more subs, baby
'Cuz in this match
Things are much harder than in the #ChurchofFucito
In this match
You've got Noonan
So if the opponent tries to bring you down
Go Fucito!

Jurgen Klinsmann: U.S. must develop more attack-based style
Wide-ranging Q&A with Jurgen Klinsmann from Grant Wahl at SI.com. Near the end Klinsmann comments on MLS academies and length of season.
EPL Talk says Sounders friendly opponent is Man U
EPL Talk is citing unnamed sources putting Manchester United in Seattle on July 20 or 21.
Is a mid-week match vs. Wayne Rooney and Co. worth the "premium pricing"?
Goodbye Wizards, Hello Sporting Kansas City
Yes, the Kansas City Wizards have changed their name. Not sure what to make of this. I can agree with the need for them to re-brand, but this name just leaves me flat.
Paul, World Cup predicting octopus, dead at 2 1/2
Forget ticket price fiascos, brouhahas over relocation or irritation over playoff formats - This is the real tragedy of the day. He will be missed.
Edit: Okay, Kirsten has a much funnier take over on the SB Nation soccer page.
SSFC-LAG: Tales of Two Halves
On July 4th, in the 15th match of the season for both clubs, the LA Galaxy handed Seattle its 8th loss of the season. It was also the third consecutive match in which the Sounders had conceded 3 goals. No one knew it at the time, but both sides had reached a crossroads of sorts in their season. LA's blistering first-half form was to cool substantially, while Seattle would go on the tear that took them from last-place in the West to the playoffs. See the differences in results after the jump.

Sounders to Face Metapan in CCL Opening Round
From the Sounders "Beyond the 90" email today:
Two Champions League berths were originally allocated to El Salvador, but FIFA has suspended the country due to governmental interference in the federation affairs. If the ban is lifted, Seattle will face Metapan, which clinched El Salvador's second berth with a 3-1 win over Aguila in the Clausura final on Sunday.
Well, that ban was lifted today, so it's off to El Salvador for our boys in green.
Nowak Serves Up More Bulletin Board Fodder
June 27 in Chester is going to be interesting. From the Delaware County Daily Times:
Reports from Seattle have the 32-year-old Ljungberg still tender from the hit.
"If you have a problem with (your) back," Nowak said, "it’s probably because you’re an old man and playing on turf. …Sorry to say."
But talk is cheap, they'll have to clean up their act at some point, Nowak will get fired if they finish every game with 10 or fewer players.
Friendly C Face Value
As I was flipping though my season ticket pack this evening, I noticed that the face value of Friendly C is nearly 38% higher than all the other matches. What could this mean? Is it a way to round off the total package value? No too basic. My mind kicked into flights of hyperbolic fantasy. Maybe MLS was so pleased with the MLS Cup turnout last year that the site will be Seattle again? Perhaps we should expect Manchester United? Anyone else have other rampantly speculative and totally unsubstantiated ideas? Or facts, facts would be okay too.
