Kick off your "boots" and stay awhile, Mr. PV...edited
While I would agree that you can never have enough pitching, especially Cy Young caliber SP, I thought this season Hendry and the front office needed to focus on the offense, especially after losing utility stud DeRosa and the underappreciated performance of Jim Edmonds. Sure adding a SP like Peavy could make the Cubs staff other-worldly, I still thought we'd struggle scoring runs no matter how much LRLRLRLR looks you can give the opposing pitcher. I agree that the ownership-in-flux situation has probably handcuffed Henry the rest of this year and it would seem that we're looking at the team now that will either bow out by September or make an incredible run at the Central title or wildcard and back into the playoffs at little over .500...let's hope for all our sake, it's the latter, but it would seem we could now put to rest the talks of adding a Peavy......or Roberts......or Halladay Would one more stud pitcher have made a difference this year...well, who knows, maybe...but the Cubs have lost 43 games in the first "half" and 22, YES, 22 of them have been losses by 2 runs or less...to me, that begs a need for another bat or two...injuries have handcuffed this team (but every team deals with bumps and bruises) and getting a fully healthy A-Ram back could be the spark for the O (personally, i feel he's coming back too early) but again I don't see the Cubs making a spash within the deadline...so love 'em and cheer 'em up, 'cause we're stuck with 'em... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4335048 Here's a quote by Towers from the story...it would seem they'll just shut him down and look forward to 2010, but will Mr. PV agree? "I think it's 50-50 if Jake will pitch again this season," Towers said, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. "We'll know more when he comes out of the cast. I can't speak for Jake, but I'd much rather have him ready for 2010 than risking more serious injury by coming back too early this year."
ESPN is reporting...(edited)
Big Z is getting a 6 game suspension...In my eyes, it's more for the ball heave and gatorade bash. With off days, he may not miss a start...(some have mentioned it is up to how Lou juggles things). There is no mention of an appeal in the ESPN blurb (as of 4 pm CST)

I hope he doesn't pull a bradley and let his "ethics" get in the way of him serving this suspension, although I agree he didn't initiate contact. Only time will tell...this team NEEDS his passion, but controlled passion, IMO.
(I didn't have this link prior to my reference to Milton)
What are your thoughts now that the suspension is official?
