For my names sake lest remember the past
Since the last time these two met in the Super Bowl, I have changed. Who I am, where I am going to watch it and how much of the pregame(all 6 and a half hours of it) to actually watch. None as far as I am concerned.
I love how many "experts" have chosen to use the week 9 matchup against these foes to draw comparisons and extrapolate what could, would and is going to happen in this Sundays game. Let me tell you why this is a fool’s errand. 1st each team has played in as many games as they did leading into week 9 since. 2nd these teams are different and they both have improved since that game. Can you count on both teams to not score in the 1st quarter?
I am also seeing lines of commonality between XLII and XLVI. There is one team that almost all the national broadcasters are picking to win. There is one team that beat the other team in the regular season. There's opinions that they can repeat a win in the Super Bowl. The ending will not be what you think, or maybe not what they think.
This wait till the Super Bowl has had me count my blessing that I am not a fan of another team. From the people in Buffalo realizing that upstate NY is not the nicest place in the world(shocker). To the people that are just so fixated on the Giants and how dominate the National League is. I am blessed to be a Patriots fan and I have faith that BB and Tom will be ready for war this Sunday.
Just like letting Flacco beat us in the air. I have a feeling that the Patriots will play back and make the likes of Amad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs try and beat us. There defensive line is the best in football. You know what, we know that and now it is not like it was in SB XLII
I would really like it if the Patriots came out in the no huddle and put up some points fast to get out to a lead. I believe that Vince will have a MONSTER game and really limit their running backs. Let Mark Anderson go. I know he can pick up and be the outside force we need him to be. I believe in Arrington, Moore, Chung and McCourtny. I believe they won’t let up more than 2 deep passes all game combined. James Ihaveahardnametospell, I have no such promises.
When we all look back at this, we'll see how smart/dumb we were. I am rooting for the Patriots and it will be a good game. I see it as 28-24 and it'll be close at the end. Here's to Tommy and BB, good luck fellas. Course one of my friends say "there is no such thing as luck there is just being prepared and executing at the opportunity". I may know some team that likes to be prepared and loves executing. For the life of me I cannot remember what they’re called. Oh yeah that was it, there called champions.
why the 2011 Patriots are not the 2010,2009 or even 2007 Patriots
I have heard it from many talking heads on the TV that the Patriots are not good and will be one and done. I hear that there the same team from last season or even worse than that. I hear that there defense is terrible and couldn’t stop a thought.
I had to dismiss all this garbage from these so called "experts". The truth is not so easy and plays a different sport. Seriously though, I will list their complaints and reasons of our Patriots demise and I will explain why these experts are so off base.
"The Patriots have lost 3 playoff games in a row". This statement of course is accurate in fact and misleading in truth. Last year we had a team that was made up of 60% new players and a whole bunch of rookies just cutting their teeth in the NFL. They all will be that much smarter, but also that much tougher. I believe that the word is seasoned. Just looking at the TE position are Gronk & A bomb better than last year?
2010 out of the way, now 2009 was the year that Welker the white had his knee incident and we were shelled by Baltimore, with a huge pass rush and not much in the way of blocking for Brady. This year Waters(damn never thought he would have been available. he has held our line together all season, thanks Brian), Solder, Cannon all fortify the front “to keep calm and keep Brady on". Welker had a pretty good season. Not to mention that our offense is more diverse and don’t rely on Moss, Welker, Welker, Moss.
The game that shall not be named. Well, to me this is a dead subject. We all saw what happened, we all know why. I will say the deciding play was a week before against Pittsburgh. Vince took the Burger and threw him to the ground. He did not drive him into the ground nor fall on top of him. Yet there was that yellow flag for "ruffing the passer" . I have said enough on that.
"Their defense is terrible and isn't SB quality". This one I really have to laugh at. Have you watched any football for the past 5 years? Except for 3-4 teams a year most defenses are terrible and get lit up on any night. The rules that have been enforced have greatly helped the offense and really didn’t help the defense. How many people went over 5K yards this season 3, 4? Before this it was just Danny. I am not excusing there play and I am not too pleased with how they get gashed almost every play in the 1st quarter.
I have found one thing that makes me a happy camper about this defense. Adjustments for the better happen. Last game in the 2nd quarter, but in weeks past at half time. The defense looks at what the other team is doing and adjust correctly to stop it. I haven't seen these adjustments from our defense in a long, long time. 2004, I think. Not saying the Patriots will get the 2nd half average points through the playoffs that were gotten in the past 8 weeks. If you give this offense an extra possession you will at your own risk.
“If Tom Brady has a bad game this team is sunk”. OK I am going to agree on that one. This team is built around Tom and they go as Brady goes. I would like to point out that if ANY QB has a bad game in the playoffs there team will have great difficulty winning. Green Bay, New Orleans are considered favorites at this late in the season and either could go home this weekend if Rogers or Breeze has a bad game. Rogers has to face that crazy D-line of NYG and could be in for a rude awakening. Breeze has to work through the tight coverage from San Fran and he could be seeing a pick 6 in his game. As for our the other AFC game, both QB are marginal. I always expected more out of Flacco and I would be most concerned with him against the Pats defense. Either one is not the quality of Brady, Rogers and Breeze. TJ Yates is to me an unknown. He really couldn’t take advantage against a porous Cinncy defense that was missing 3 starting DB.
What do I expect? I expect that Tom will be vintage Tom and the Patriots will end up with a similar score to the last game. I know everyone is talking about how the Denver turned the ball over 3 times in the 2nd quarter and basically gave the game away. What I would like to point out that the 1st 3 drives for Denver they scored. They were playing at home with a 7 game win streak on the line. To say they were amped would probably understate it. I expect BB to play cover 3 to eliminate(or just limit) the deep pass. I expect Tim Tebow to throw the ball 30 times and complete less than half. Patriots 38-24.
2 More wins to the Super Bowl. 3 more destiny awaits for Tom, Bill and Myra. The last one there is the most important. That is what is different than all the other playoff games and teams in the near past. Our team will go out this weekend and play for her memory and the man that brought us football this season Mr. Kraft. They will play with energy and effort. On Sunday they’ll be waiting for the next “winner”.

Mystory of Basketball
As I looked up into the rafters of this old building, I heard something. There was no one there besides us and grand pa was quite in front of me. I wasn't sure what that noise was but it was a high pitched and it sounded like a squeak. I ask my grand pa "here?". He said "yup this is it!" I looked around an empty room and saw the dust on everything. The room was large but I could still see the other side. The floor was wood and worn with some old paint from a forgotten time. "this is where the world changed for the better" my grand pa said. At one end of the room on the celling there was a structure and on the other end the same structure. Once there was a peach basket with ladder next to it. A little later it had a small hole in the bottom for a dowel to be used with. Then a hole large enough to let a ball fall through.
"Dr. Naismith, worked here at the YMCA when I was a child" my grand pa stated. "I got to see him apply the sport he invented". I looked at my grand pa and asked "WHY and what for?". My grand pa smiled " this sport was invented to help another sport". He continued "Football coaches wanted their players to have an indoor activity to promote teamwork and to keep there athletes fit during the offseason".
He went on to talk about the 1st couple of years of the sport. Most of it about how the venue has changed and the product of basketball was different. From the chicken wire fences to protect the fans and the players. To the players themselves that would routinely break fingers and arms playing a game and play the next night with a cast that would probably become a weapon. He also discussed different things about the game that changed like the 24 second clock and the 3 point line(he really hated that the players that played before the 3 line. "that was a 2 in my day" ) Oh and traveling, he absolutely hated that one of the 1st rules in basketball basically went away in the NBA. For those of you too young to remember it is 1 & 1/2 steps you get not 2, 2&1/2 or 5 if you play for the Heat.
As we left the old building scheduled to be demolished in the next week my grand pa talked to the guard that let us in for a while. Thoughts streamed through my head about the game. On our way home he entertained me with the stories of Red and Bill. Tommy, Cousy and Havlicek of course were a part of it as well. This is one story that I would always remember.
"the Celtics were up by 16 and the point spread was 17. Cousy with 5 seconds left on the clock was all alone near the scoring basket. 3 Cousy goes up for the layup. 2 the ball is in the air going up to the rim. 1 the ball bounces wildly off the rim. 0 into the 2nd row of seats. It was never confirmed but I would think someone made money that night with the Celtics not covering the spread" . He never told me the date or what season that was since it was about 50 years later I asked. I loved this story because it underlined what the players played for in those days and what the climate was for players who were lucky enough to play a sport for a living. In the off season the players had jobs like construction and pier work.
I like most of you was put to bed with Johnny Most on the radio and my father and grand pa telling the history of basketball's greatest teamoh the memories. I was young but I still remember the Bird/ Magic years that reinvigorated the NBA. My grand pa would always remind me that without Red and Bill there would be no NBA for Bird and Magic to fortify and later Jordan to take to the next level.
I have always loved basketball and I am afraid I always will. This lockout has been nothing but terrible and tiresome. I cannot wait until these parties get together and say what Bob Kraft said during the NFL lockout. "WE NEED TO FIX THIS FOR THE FANS, THEY ARE THE REASON WE ARE AND WE SHOULD NOT BE SO DISMISSIVE OF THEM FOR THEY ARE THE SOLE REASON FOR OUR BUSINESS AND WITHOUT THEM WE CANNOT AND WILL NOT EXIST" I am paraphrasing right now but the jist is correct. I know it's not on topic but THANK YOU MR. KRAFT FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK and at least I will have something to watch until February and that’s close to when pitchers and catchers report.
In a league that caters to the whinny of their pure breeds, I call shenanigans. Shenanigans on your league and your owners. Shenanigans on trying to tell the public that it's the players fault for the owners locking them out. Shenanigans on the owners trying to paint the players as greedy millionaires(the players gave you 4% and you can afford to pay them millions of dollars EACH). Shenanigans on the owners that cannot finance their team correctly and want the other owners to make up for their mistakes.
I know the last CBA wasn't good for everybody, the players made a boat full of money. The owners still paid them and still were able to survive. If you don’t want to pay your players then sell the team. This is the time to compromise this is the time to act. This is not the time to go Christmas shopping, or spend with your family. WE WANT OUR FAMILY BACK. Papa Peirce, Uncle Ray Ray, Godfather KG, Cousin Rage, little bro Jeff Green and of course big baby.
The noise I heard I later recognized. I am not sure if it's the same thing but it sure sounds a lot like a sneaker turning on a parquet floor from a great distance. Someone missed an important FT is still running wind sprints. As my grand pa would say "he missed it and there all important."
OTM FB Varitek Week 18 & 19 Update: just one week at a time sort of
Good Wednesday too all. This is the Springfield Sioux giving you all your Fantasy Baseball needs in a little ity bity blog. After a long roller coaster ride of a day night double header, I feel drained. I know these are the dog days of summer an players should feel the heat. It could be that I was covering for my boss last week and my workload easily doubled. He is back and for now so am I.
With only 4 week left to the playoffs I am slogging through my toughest part of my schedule. I am glad it came it this juncture in the season to prepare for the playoffs. Below is week 18 summery of the scores. Upchuck squeaked out a win against me by 30 points. The Swanz had the blowout of the week with it's 83 point margin. Upset of the week is LC going down to BC USG (mouth agape) this also holds the title as nail biter of the week as well.
| Springfield Sioux | 428.17 | Final |
| upCHUCK on you | 458.83 |
| The Swanz Sox | 434.33 | Final |
| Donald's Ducks | 351.50 |
| BC USG | 395.33 | Final |
| LC | 373.50 |
| Bloggy By Nature | 314.17 | Final |

| TLD's Argyle Sox | 313.67 |
| Dustins #1 Fan | 318.33 | Final |
| Mustangs 2011 | 364.33 |
Week 19: QUACK QUACK. The Ducks had there biggest win margin of the season this week. Without doing any research I believe this is the biggest blowout of the season by almost 300 points. Dusitn#1fan had the nail bitter of the week with a win with a minor margin of 6.67 points.I was able to hold off the Swanz for a win going 1-1 against the top 3 teams with LC on the burner this week. Below is the #'s for those whom need them.
| Springfield Sioux | 452.50 | Final |
| The Swanz Sox | 373.00 |
| BC USG | 251.50 | Final |

| Davey and the Giants | 399.67 | Final |
| upCHUCK on you | 448.17 |
Here is the standings for the playoffs(enter jim mora quote here) at the beginning of week 20
1) UpChuck 17-2
2) LC 16-3
3) The Swanz 14-5
4) Sioux 13-6
5) Davey & the giants 10-9
6) TLD Argyle 9-10
The other 6 team are mathematically eliminated from playoff consideration. If we were doing a 6 team playoff 10 out of 12 would still be in the hunt. For fun and fantasy purposes I always recommend that you have a playoff with half of your total team count. Just too keep interest in the league until the last couple of weeks. No one wants to be Marlins
Ok so were back up to snuff with the update stuff. Now for some fun POLL TIME!!!!
OTM Fantasy Baseball Varitek League Week 17 Review: yeah it's me agian
Hello sports fans, it's your Springfield Sioux once again to give you the word, have you heard? Running on some extra gas from the 2 walk off hits in a row from Ells. Let’s just hope Mr. Boras will allow him to return after arbitration. I know Boras will ask for the moon, but if Ells plays like this then I believe he is worth it.
Back to the business of baseball of the fantasy variety. There has been some movement in the standings which will be illustrated below. The nail biter of the week goes to, Swans Soxs winning by a mere 49 points. The blowout of the week goes to upChuck winning by 233 points. LC had the highest point total for the week at 569. Once again Davey and the Giants gave a battle to the Springfield Sioux, but we split the season series with a win by 50 pts.

LC took the top spot this week with a slight edge on upChuck in points by almost 26 points. After rereading the league settings I am sorry to announce that the playoffs will only be a 4 team playoff. With only 6 weeks left I feel that only the top 8 teams can make it and those bottom teams get a chance to catch up in the coming weeks. I am playing upChuck this week Swanz next and LC after that. After I face this murders row I will have a good idea on what to do when the playoffs come around, that is if I make it.
I wish you all a happy weekend and may more RedSox wins to come. As always; as little injuries as possible.

Varitek league summery: Week 16. OK so I am new at this, kinda
Hello sports fans, this is your Springfield Sioux bringing you the low down on the down low. With the Playoffs only 8 weeks away (yeah I am talking playoffs!!) the league is like MLB, settling. The cream is near or at the top, only time will tell who is the cream and whom is just made into cheese.
There has been a lack of update now going since the All star game week. The next week nothing so I said to myself "self, if there's no update by Wednesday next week it's up to you to tell the world of this league and this great season".
Here the results of last week
| Springfield Sioux | 385.67 | Final |
| TLD's Argyle Sox | 294.00 |
| The Swanz Sox | 390.00 | Final |
| Mustangs 2011 | 196.33 |
| BC USG | 344.83 | Final |
| Donald's Ducks | 479.17 |
| LC | 407.67 | Final |

Some of those know that LC is in this league. He was in the lead and now a new leader has emerged. Upchuck has now a slight point advantage over LC with the same record of 14-2. the standings are as follows:
1 Upchuck 14-2
2 LC 14-2
3 Swanz Sox 12-4
4 Sioux 11-5
5 Davey & the giants 9-7
6 TLD Argyle Sox 8-8
7 Dustin's #1 fan 7-9
8 BC USG 6-10
9 Donald's Ducks 5-11
10 Bloggy by Nature 4-12
There are 2 more teams @ 3-13, but with only 8 weeks left I believe that the top 10 still have a shot at making the playoffs. Whether it be by luck, skill or a combination of either the bottom spots 5 & 6 are still in play.
My team was dealt a huge loss today with Josh Johnson calling it a season. He is going to rest his shoulder since the marlins have as good a chance at making the playoffs as the Orioles. I'll get by with a little help from my friends named Gonzalez, Crawford, Lester, Salty and for now Scoots.
I wish everyone a happy summer, and a competitive finish. Good luck and as always as little injuries as possible.

Kemba Walker, any one, any one, any one.....
I just read 4 different mock drafts that has college player of the year runner up will be picked between 9-12, "Due to not fault of his own". If he is still available at 12 here is what I suggest. Package up our 25th for 2011 and our 1st(not clippers) for 2012 for Utah' 12th. Utah gets a second 1st 2012(experts say a stronger draft) and they get to keep there top overall pick & have another 1st for this season. The Celtics get Kemba and with a little help maybe a sign and trade or a trade straight up for 2nd rounder’s 11 + 12 for a higher 2nd this season for either JaJuan Johnson or Jeremy Tyler. I would Take Tyler because of his size and youth, not much but in the NBA 2 years is a lifetime. I know more pieces are to come with FA (whenever that will start). I really like Kemba and I think a season or 2 behind PP, Rage and Ray Ray would only improve his game(he does remind me of a bigger Allen Iverson). Would Kemba and one of the 2 listed above be considered a good draft? Would you do it another way, or is there a sleeper that may be worth a look at 25? Come on leprechauns.
The calm before the storm
This past month of basketball has really made me think. It has tested my 30 years of basketball knowledge and my green blood. There has been many that think the Celtics gave this season away by trading Perk. Let me make this abundantly clear. THE CELTICS ARE IN A BETTER POSITION NOW THEN IF WE DIDNT MAKE THE PERKINS TRADE. If only for the fact that all the players DA traded where put on the DL for at least 2 weeks. We would have had to go with 6-8 guys for a run. THERE IS NO WAY THE CELTICS HAVE A BETTER OR THE SAME RECORD WITH THAT MANY HURT UNITS.
If this and but that all you like. Those are the facts. I LOVE PERK. I really like that OKC took care of him and I feel for the next 5 years or so when healthy he will be one of the best defensive center in the league. He can be a dominate force in the paint and on the block. Would the Celtics have benefited from him being here even injured? I am afraid no one can answer that.
I can say that in the beginning of this season, Rondo made an interior pass to Shaq he, get this, caught it and went straight up with it. Even sometimes made a deft pass to a cutter or an open Ray or Paul. Those parts of Perk's game always needed polishing. When Perk came back I was happy, then clank, that same pass off the hands & out of bounds or even worse "the slow gather". He did on the 1st game back catch a rebound up high and put it back up without bringing it down. That was the 1st time in his career that I saw him do that exact play. Tommy was all over it saying "boy if he could do that 3-4* a game, it could be huge". He never did it again while on the team.
The new guy. People on this blog are great diehard Celtics fans. They know mostly about their beloved Celtics and I am one of them. I however am from Springfield and take basketball very seriously. I do play fantasy basketball(just finished 6 teams 4 championships) and it does make me more of a student of each player on each team. I was over the moon on Green and I could/can see why DA brought him in. PLEASE do not throw him under any bus and please remember that I said it here 1st. He will be an All Star as a Celtics within 3 years. Currently you have 3 Hall of Famers and 1 uber star in Rondo. It is quite easy to differ to your teammates when you really don't know what is going on. He reminds me of Natron(in a good way) and could have the same or more effect in the playoffs. He will win a game in the post season.
The other pieces. Curly, Murphy, Arroyo, Pavlovic. When everyone is healthy and I believe this is what DA was thinking. Shaq is your Starter for 20 Min a game and the other 28 min divided equally through BBD, Curly and JO. The 1st big off the bench is always BBD, then when KG needs a breather either JO or Curly can take the C position and BBD slides to the 4. I thought Arroyo was/is the ideal 3rd stringer PG or if Dwest is really hot have them play together. Pavlovic is an NBA player, maybe not a starter but NBA ready for sure. I like Murphy's game and it can stretch out other defenses, it's just if he can be ready of for the playoffs. Just a reminder these guys are the end of the bench players and don't need to be super-duper stars. They just need to play heads up and not turn the ball over all the time.
The core. There old, there tired, there never going to make it through all those teams in the east. I am sorry, I think I heard this one before. 12 months ago the Celtics were not going to advance in the playoffs. Dwade was going to punch their collective tickets. I will say what I said then because it bears repeating. I don’t care what they say, all the talking heads on all the ESPN programs can make all the predictions they like. It doesn’t mean they know anything. Keep picking other teams, keep the attention on Chicago, The Miami Hype even, get this, the NY Knickerbockers. We'll just keep winning and see where that takes us.
Imposing your will on a team during the 82 game slog of a season isn’t something vets do. In fact they wait till the postseason where the games really matter to put in the 110% effort. I.E. Sheed, do I need to say more? Ok one thing, no, Sheed cannot help. I would rather have Murphy out there then Sheed. At least he has played a few min this season.
The Playoffs. IF everyone is healthy The Celtics go to the Finals, no question. Chicago will be the biggest opponent in the east and I am really pulling for the Fakers in the Finals. I really like to beat LA for the Championship, it just, u know, feels right. I do think that San Antonio is a better team when healthy, but just like the Celtics it’s a big IF.
Issues that concern. Interior defense/rebounding is at the top of my list. With Shaq and JO I am not worried. Just JO not quite as good but better then what the Celtics have had for the past 4 weeks. Without both we're in trouble. I say this with a bit of hesitance, JO looks like he has been playing for a couple of weeks and looks serviceable. I don’t want to count on him, but he looks better than he did last season’s playoff games, just saying. RAY ALLEN needs to shoot more. He will never complain or say that so I am going to. PASS RAY RAY THE BALL. When Ray scores 20 the Celtics are at like 18-4.
Being a Celtics Fan. You are the privileged and the knowledgeable. You should not be the proud an ignorant. Please respect the other teams, there players, also there fans. Try to root more for the Celtics and less against their opponents. There are exceptions to this rule and it useally goes to the players that are not what the Celtic way is. Kobe, LeBrick, Dwade, CBonk and Kardashian for some examples. Big Z is getting there.
Long as the core stays healthy we have a shot, if Shaq is back then the shot becomes something bigger. We start gelling at the start of the playoffs we’re in for quite a ride. This is the season, now is the time. #18 is waiting to send many off into the sunset. We’ll all look back at this and say "that had us concerned", 20/20 hindsight and all.
I wish you all a good week heading into the postseason. If these thoughts above intrigue good, if you agree great. If this helps you sleep at night good. If you said when Shaq was signed by LA after Orlando that he would help the Celtics win a Championship. I would have called you crazy and I would have been wrong.
SB Nation AFCE FF FINALS: OOOHH SO CLOSE
I'll start this off by saying that I had a hell of a season. I fought thought this season with the championship in mind. I came within inches of my goal. I posted last week that I wasn't sure whom to play and now looking back over my lineup I should have played 2 players that did very well. To my defence the players they needed to replace where players that where projected much higher last week. I played Bradshaw and Cooley and I should have played Forte and Gronkowski.
If I played either, the point difference would have been enough to win it all. I just never thought that Green Bay would allow Forte to run like he did and Gronk well he had the best game of his young career and got what Cooley was projected to. Forte 20 pts, Gronk 19 pts both on the bench. Look below for the details.
If you look back over the past 17 weeks, there was one over riding fact. The Patriots winning ALWAYS super-ceded my team winning.I look forward to this off season with great hope and happiness. TFB is playing his best as a QB in his career. Bill has personally seen to it that each defensive player has the plays seared into there brains by him. The offence has no peers in this league and the defence is good enough to hold the best offences in a game.
I know it's a long shot. By the #'s they produced both McCourty and Gronkowski deserve RPY honors the facts:
gFORCE- 42 Rec 546 yards 10 TD's not too mention all the blocks on all pros that kept TFB clean all season. I know Bradford for St. Louis will win it, I just hope they don't forget Gronk.
McCourty- (need nickname maybe, the warden: when he's on you, your on lock down):
82 Tackles 1 Sack 7 ints 17 pass def. Maybe Haden from Cleveland will get it, but I feel that Devin's got it.
I have really enjoyed my time here at the Pulpit and I will continue to read this blog for it's insite and creative bloggers. For now I wait, I wait for the "Winners" of this weekend so the path to the SB starts to come into focus.
To any player that may be reading this. Eat pie, it is good and it will fill you. Follow the hooded one to the promise land. He knows the way, he has been there before. Always be humble, always be hungry, never be satisfied. The true Patriot Way.

SBN AFCE FF PLAYOFF UPDATE: FOR ALL THE BANNANAS
Week 17 FINALS HELL
Brady and Branch have brought me to the Finals. I will have to sit them for it. I hate having your finals on the last week of the season. I am a big believer in dancing with the lady whom brough you. I still cant bring myself to play them.
I have done my research and picked up the highest projected players I could from the wire. They are as follows:
Tim Tebow- yes the same. I saw something last week from this kid I haven't seen fom him yet in the NFL. I feel he still wants to prove that wasnt a fluke and produce at a high level to finish the season.
"Mighty" Joe Webb - I picked him up for his WR postion availability and slotted him in for Branch and his bad Knee/hammy. Did well last week and I believe the Vikings will look at this kid to be on the team next year as well.
Love having players that are trying to prove something or fighting for a job. Just like in the NFL you need a little luck to win it all. I got through 16 weeks of ups and downs. Now on to the next UP.
Just so you know I will still be playing Law Firm, Graham, The D, and Mayo. Last week I won another league that finished in week 16. Had A Hernandez or A Bomb on the team had to drop him for Gronk. Won the championship by Gronks game. Thanks G force.

SBN AFCE FF Week 14 Update: Snow Problem
I was very blessed this past week with weather. Many of you may remember the 1st snow home game last season. It was a freak snow storm in the last week of October. The Titans stood on the opponents sideline that day. Maybe someone forgot to tell them that and they laid an egg in the Razor. I was a fool and I didn't play Brady on that day. I had a good match up with my other QB and I watched the pregame with the snow on the field. This time I stuck to my guns. TB, Branch, Graham and the Pats Defence took me to victory.
This week comming up I look forward to a possibility of more bad weather, a rookie QB and one more step to the 1st round bye. I love the Patriots and at the begining of the season I estimated a record of 10-6. Figuring in a couple of learning games from rookies. If you told me that Faulk, Bodden, Warren would all end up on the DL before the 4th week, I probably would have downgraded our chances to 9-6.
Well, what am I getting at? ENJOY IT! This season is a success. Where ever this year may take us, enjoy this. Enjoy this season because it's special. All this talent, all learning and growing into the team of our present and future. If Brady keeps playing this way, it won't matter how many pro bowl votes he gets cause he will not be able to go.

Week 13 Recap AFCE SBN FF: Home stretch
Going into Bloody Monday I had a small margin to over come. I had good feelings about making up the 10 or so points I was behind. Brady, Branch, Graham, Pats Def, and Mayo agianst Tomlinson. After the 1st half, it was over.
I would like to take a moment to talk about the Pats and the home stretch. This past Monday was the 1st game this season that the Pats played a full 60. They give this effort for the last 4 game and beyond, we'll have many happy days ahead.
On the 1st week of Christmas,
my true team gave to me,
spare jet parts in a tree!
Below you'll find the summery of the week that was.

Gorman Gems 12/09/10
Mike said 2 things that made me laugh and laugh. Near the end of the game the 2 gems where
Semih Erden- "the Turkish Dr. J" on the play he go fouled and made the layup.
after that there was a ruckus. "both teams stood in the middle of the floor and staired each other down. I felt like I was watching a production of West Side Story". Spit beer at least 5 feet.
Please feel free if you have a Gem you would like to share. It was just so funny that I had to share.
SBN AFCE FF Week 11&12 update: double stuffed
Ok after only 3 days in between the last 2 Patriots games, I figured that these shold be together.
Week 11
Brasenly I stated that a W was in the works. The reason, the team I was agianst hasn't checked his team since week 2. I absolutly hate that. I have been playing FF for about 13 years or so. This drives me up a wall. If you cannot make the commitment, don't do it. The reason why I kept this a secret, the owner of the team I was playing agianst is from this blog. Currently he is 0-12. The good news, me and the other Pats Pulpit member are going to the playoffs and are playing well.
Short and sweet I had better players and I won. Below for more detals

Week 12 HAPPY TURKEY DAY FOR ALL By the tme I was done with my dinner, I was up by 100. Tom Brady playng the way he has in the past, is a sight for sore eyes. TFB keeps playing like that, the Pats will be playing deep into the post season. A great start to the win and the rest of my players showed up on Sunday as well. The game was always at arms length and was never really in any doubt. Agian played agianst a absent owner. The kick in the teeth that one is he is the commish!!!! He started the league and he didn't make it to the draft and as far as I can tell hasn't set one lineup.

SBN AFCE FF Recap Week 10: LETS DO THAT AGIAN
TFB, lead me to victory!!!!
With a great team effort my team went on to win this past week to snap my 4 game losing streak. Contributions from all positions on the team made this a little easier then the past weeks. Gforce had a great game at 32 points. Unfortunately it was all for not as he rode the bench. Beating one of the better teams in the league felt good all over. On top of that it was a Bills fan. Double pleasure, it would be double fun, but I understand the Bills fan plight and I try to not make fun or light of that situation. I still remember the 80ies-90ies.
This week I plan to unleash the Pats onto my team. With how porous the Colts defense has been and with how many backups on both sides for the Indy, I feel this is the time and place. Brady, Branch, BJGE, Gronk, Graham, Pats D and Mayo all playing. My kicker for the past month was cut by there team this past Monday, so I picked up Graham. I have had Graham on one of my FF teams since before Cinny was any good and Palmer was a rookie.
I won't do this for real games, but I am stoked about the matchup this week. I will win! Just call it a hunch and I will get into the details about that next week. So far so good though.
Below as always you get the details of the win. This Sunday however we get to see the Pats thrash the Colts, with a little appetizer of the Celtics at 1pm. I will be watching and I will be cheering. I probably wont leave my living room for at least 8 hours. Can I get a SWEET

Week 9 AFCE FF Recap: I'm Sorry
"What should I do? Should I remind people that I've done this before? Should I remind them how mch fun we've had? What should I do?"
After taking on more responcibility at my work and not havng the same down time as before. Last week I had to take inventory of my days and what makes them go. My FF team hasn't been performing to the standards of the Pats and I felt that I didn't represent them as well as I should. I figured that everything being equal I could just let the Recaps lie and let the Patriots fiinish the season out.
Watching the debacle on the shores of lake Erie a light shown to me. "This is my fault" I muttered out loud. I have upset the cosmic balance out there and really screwed the pooch on this one. I never thought a play could start without people beiing set or them in motion. Colt can be an effective QB in the NFL. I learned a couple of things this past week.
Below you'll fiind another heart breaker that I snached defeat from the claws of victory. Week 9 just like week 8 before it I had a small lead going into Monday night football. My players failing to preform on Monday and a come from behind victory for my Foe.
There's not much else to say on the matter but on to Pittsburgh.

Week 7 SBN AFCE FF Update- BATTLE
Going into Monday night football I had a 2 point lead. I was worried that his players Tony Romoand Steve Smith would make up that small margin of error. I had Miles Austin and Ahmad Bradshaw going for my team, so I knew I had a fighting chance on beating the best team in the league.
The game came and went. Romo going down was good but not enough to out weigh Steve Smith's production. If Austin doesn't drop the TD in the 1st quarter then it could have been different. If Bradshaw didn't fumble the ball 2 times it would have been really close.
Ifs and buts were candy and nuts then everyday would be Christmas- Slammin Salmon.
Miles didn't catch that ball and Bradshaw couldn't find the Handel. Hence the loss 116-110. So very close, but no cigar. As much as I hate losing, I really hate non competitive games. I gave the best team in the league a run for the money so I feel that I am not far off.
The Pats game was one I'll always remember. In the end I was with Bill. I felt that even if SD stopped the Pats 4th down conversion. SD would find a way to lose. 45 yard Field goal, oops 50 yard FG from a Kicker that hasn't kicked in a game in a couple months. Yeah it hit the cross bar but it hooked into it. It was wide right from the get. Don't get me wrong in the last 5 min of the game my blood pressure went through the roof and I lost quite a bit of my fingernails. I'll never forget that 1st quarter with those turnovers. Never seen that many bonehead plays in such a short time in a game. Probably never see it again, I hope.
The Moss man cometh. The old gunslinger returns. It all adds up to a huge blowout. I would think that the Pats will not only beat them but make an example of them. Expect vintage Tom and Branch. I am seeing a 45-17 game with it being well in hand by halftime. I may be completely wrong, and there's that whole Halloween thingy. Lets see whom goes bump in the night and who goes running to there parents room. Make room Chilly, there coming and there scared.

Week 6 SNB AFCE Recap: Instant dividends
What really is there to say about last week that already hasn't been said? I think the best way to describe it is, Bill knew. We didn't and Bill did. He traded away LoMo, He knew. He traded away the most talented receiver in the NFL, he still knew. Looking back I believe that we are going to realize more and more that Bill knows his players and what there capable of.
All the players on this team have potential. Now there showing there strips, great ones like Spikes, Hernandez, Gronkowski and McCourtny. Potential turning into talent right before our eyes. The Pats have had a stretch of players that have potential, but it never really turned out to be talent on the field like Chad Jackson. The past 2 drafts are starting to pay dividends right now. WAY faster then I could even hope for.
That being said there is a possibility that this team is going to get better. I would just settle for more consistency on the defense. Speaking of potential, did any one notice that in the 2nd half Whilite took over for Chung covering the middle the Ravens offense just stalled. That is a perfect example of the correct half time adjustment.
This week coming up the Pats go left coasting. A stroll to SD while there best 3 receivers are either not playing or may not play; Vjak and M Floyd or have a injury will be out, A gates high sprained ankle may not play. SD defense is not too hot losing to St. Louis, Oakland, and Kansas City. Could be a cupcake, could be a trap game. SD 2-0 @home and 0-4 away. Prediction Rivers 400+ yards (mostly in garbage time) and a win for the good guys Pats 38-21 SD.
It is 12:56pm on this past Sunday afternoon. I am watching the FF program and there was a cut to the Razor. The man in the box said if your trying to figure out who to start in the WR3 position or a flex options Deion Branch may be it. I said you know what the heck. I put Deion in and let him do his magic. At halftime I though maybe I shouldn't have by the end of the game I knew it was the right move. The only issue I had is that I lost. 116-141. Miles Austin got called for a OP (the other P well it's not that simple). Lost a TD and 80+ yards~ of 18points. I will concede this season if the Pats keep playing this way. As much as I love winning FF, I love watching TFB raise the Lombardi more, by light years.

Celtics make short work of the Amare less Knickerbockers in THE BEAT
I'll start by saying that the venue was small. I'll end that thought with IT SOLD OUT. Pre season game sold out. How many other professional sports have a preseason sell out? It could have been the site. Hartford is about half way between NY and Boston. There were Knick fans there. I know sounds funny, but there they where. I counted like 5 of them on my side of the building. There was probably a total of 15-20 fans in Knicks garb(out of 16,000). I would imagine there were more incognito, of course we remember those days as a fan don't we?
The only problem I had with the game was apparent at start, NO AMARE. I feel the preseason is only good for your team if you play against starters for the other team. Before the jump ball, I said the Celtic should win by 30.
Going through warm-ups I watched KG take 17' jumpers. Swish, swish and in the game more of the same. The one part of KG's game I worried the most about. He struggled most of last year taking that shot, which he would normally make 90 out of 100. It was his bread and butter and now seems to be again. Can I get a SWEET from everyone?
PP & Ray were short lived on the floor but made contributions. Shaq, man he is still a beast. To quote a Celtics press you can't teach WIDE. Shaq and BBD (Uno, Uno) have it in spades. Shaq looks ready to give 15-20 a game at about 8-10 pts and 6-8 reb. You can't ask for much more then that from your back up. Speaking of backups
The story of the day is going to backups. I am going to list each and what they take to the floor. With both Quisy and JO getting the night off, I knew we're going to see plenty of the bench mob.
Erden- KID CAN PLAY. IQ out the wazu, soft hands and Smart with a capitol S. I saw him make some great High to low post passing. He could easy get 3-5 assists every game. He doesn’t force the shot, but has a nice one to fall back on when needed. 2008 last pick of the draft pick #60 Semih Erden, any one really impressed with this one now? I am!!
Natron- the natrix- Krytonate- what ever you call him, he will be our spark off the bench. He is starting to remind me of a young Jason Terry. If he keeps his defense 1st assignment he will do fine. Nate playing with 2 other players that can bring up the ball, D. West and Quisy will make him a better player. He can come off picks and shoot or drive and kick to either one of those players. Can you believe how much Quisy shot has improved? He didn't play Saturday night, but it is so much better I had to bring it up. I have always been in the Quisy camp since he signed; I am getting a lot of neighbors now ;).
GD- Uno-Uno. During his career I always thought, what would this kid do starting? From his 2nd to last year and last year in college he went from a 1st rounder to almost did not get drafted. DA was no fool and saw the talent like many times since and before. BBD for all purposes was the starter for Saturday’s game. While he was working I though for the 1st time ever, "you know when Kevin hangs ’em up, I will be ok with BBD as a starter with Rondo and Perk"(1 can hope right?). His hustle and grit cannot be questioned. His 1st shot was about 3 feet outside where he should be shooting. Next time the adjustments came and swish. Right spot, good timing perfect basketball play.
Luke "don’t call me sky walker" Harangody - limited time on the floor. The only reason I can come up with is that the kid has a spot on the team and Saturday was more for the "bubble" players like Lasme, Von Wafer and West.
Von Wafer, but it's only WAAAAAAFER thin. Von got his shots to fall on Saturday and you can see what the Celtic interest are with him. The 3's were under duress and he hit em any way. Best game I have seen Von play in a Celtic's uniform. Not quite the performance he gave when he was with the Rockets on 1/7/10. I would think the C's keep him until West can play.
Stephane Lasme, I went to ZOO MASS and got all of Camby records. Besides these two things I knew nothing about him except he did play in the NBA for a team or two. He never really got any good stretch of games where he could showcase his potential. If all things were created equal I would think this kid would get the last spot on the roster playing the Scal role- defend 3, 4's or 5's and don’t screw up too much. The only thing he needs is a nick name.
M. West - I was with my brother at the game and he hasn't been watching any of the preseason. I had to fill him in on Mario and a couple mentioned above. The only thing I could tell him was the last game I saw him in a player stole the ball from the Celtics and went to lay it in the basket on the other end. Then West went racing up behind him and pinned the lay up to the back board which was GREAT DEFENSE. When I finished my one liner about the guy almost on cue he gets his steal. My brother looked at me and said defense is good.
With Delonte being out the 1st couple of weeks I again would think that Danny will keep Von on, until West comes back. When that happens who knows who may be called upon to fill that spot. I like Lasme the most out of the last 3. Within the new rules about signing players to the D-League are still under your control. I would think DA will take full advantage over that and sign the 2 that don't make it to the Red Claws at least for now.
A week from tomorrow, let the blood bath begin. Everyone is picking the Heat and if there not picking the Heat then there picking the Lakers to three peat. Not one reporter or article that I have seen has given the Celtics a shot at winning the rubber match agianst the Lakers. Most think they wont make it out of the eastern confrence. You know what, I'm ok with that. I think that Ray, PP and KG feel disrespected and there out to prove that there not done, no not by a long shot. I am calling it now Celtics win opening day 102-86. #18- every journey starts with a single step.
Want to be DA for a second? Answer the Poll and see if you match up with everyone else.
Week 5 SBN AFCE FF: "Team" has come back in style
I am stoked to watch Patriots football for at least the next 12 weeks. Moss man c-ya, Branch "not the answer, just a piece of the puzzle"grew a new leaf . Did someone open a window? That is some fresh air. I look forward to some clock controlling drives on offence. No more 3 and out , 30 sec burned off the clock. Let BB work on the sidelines with the Defence. Make the half time adjustments and come out strong. This type of offence it will let the defence rest more and learn more on the sidelines with Bill. This could end up being a great season.
Week 5 Summery
Going into the Monday night game I was up by 47. I felt the game wasstill in doubt with him having Keller TE NYJ, Allen DE Min and Harris LB NYJ going and I just had Moss and Greenway LB Min. If Moss had a game like last MondayNight, I could totally see him getting like 0, -2 points. Keller has been a killer this season with his multipul TD catches in games this season. Allen is one of the best DE in the league and could have done a 4-6 sack night. Alas it wasn't Keller's night and the Moss man did show up. In the end it's one more win for the good guys and one more loss to another AFCEFan. To recap 4 wins - 1 loss to a Pats fan. I have scored 712 points this season and lead the league by 30 points. I currently hold the #5 spot since the top teams from the 4 divisions get 1-4. My only loss came from my division so I am 2nd in the division hence 5th overall.
This week I picked up some Pats that may or may not help me in the near future. I choose to include the Lawfirm BJGE, Gforce and Deion Branch for a bunch of players that I picked up for the bye week. I let Carney go the day before his release and picked up Jeff Reed from Pit. I would recommend that if you need help at WR look for the person that has Heins Ward from Pit. He's going to go ballistic, mark my words. Him and Amendola from St. Louis. the latter you could pick up on the waver wire.
The only position battle I have is do I start Brady against one of the leagues best Defences and him having new players to throw to? Do I start McNabb who is playing against Indys porous defence, however McNabb has this habit of having a good game followed by a bad one. Last week 357 1td 1int, this week could be the same or it could be 200 yds 2ints. I am leaning towards TFB, but am not 100% sure if that's the right thing to do.

Pats Rock starts to roll, hence no Moss. Week 4 SBN AFCE FF: Bound to happen
Before I get into this weeks recap I would like to say something about the bestmost gifted WR to ever put on a Pats uniform. You can have Stanley the Steamer, I'll take the Moss man any day, any week , and any year of his career. I think the other Marshall product was the best WR for the Pats. I wished the Pats would have extended his contract in the off season. I realize that wasn't what the Pats were going to do when Randy said "you know they don't really pay". I loved to see Moss run down the field, I loved the one handed catches, I loved the blocking down field. I wish him the best, I hope he is productive and gets another contract. One other little thing that probably doesn't matter to most, Randy will play 17 games this season. Only 6 players in NFL history have done that since the expansion to 16 game season. Side note Randy will be starting for my FF team all year except on Halloween. ;)
This week as you may have figured, I got .5 pts from all 3 of my WR's projecting at about 24pts. Randy we know, Manningham despite his insistence didn't play or didn't catch a ball last week and Thomas out of Denver caught one ball for 9yds. I was down 45 pts going into Monday Night Football. I had Brady, Moss,Pats Def, Mayo all going. He had 2 Pats going Gostowski and YEP CHUNG. After the Blocked punt I gave up on this week. I put the good fight and still produced 112 pts with a 1/2 pt from my 3 WRs. I did decide to keep the Pats D and Picked up Chicago to play a toothless Panthers team.
This is my 1st loss of the season bringing my team to 3-1 like another team I know. I figure as long as I only lose to Pats fans I will consider this season a win. Enjoy the bye week and root for the Moss Man one more time on Monday Night Football as the Vikings torch the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets

Week 3 update for SBN AFCE FF league. 3-0 is the way to go
Results from week 3. The story
After Sundays games I had a 23 point lead with Forte and Briggs playing on Monday night football. The Banditz had only Aaron Rodgers playing in that game so I felt secure in the win sitting down to watch a football classic. Whenever the Pack and Bears get together it's always a slobber knocker, great old school football, 3yrds and a cloud of dust and all.
Once agian the Pats defence was not up to snuff agianst Mr. Fitzpatric. I will say the defence played the best 2nd half of the season. Came up with a couple of stops and turnovers when it mattered. Overall not the greatest, but not bad considering the Bills always play the Pats tuff, same with the Phins. It's becomming clear that I can drop the Pats defence for the bye and pick them back up at my convience in the comming weeks.
This week is a bye week for Miles Austin. I will be rolling out Moss,D.Thomas of Denver and Manningham from NYG. Hopefully this week will be more like week 2 for Thomas and Manningham will get a TD thrown his way agianst Chicago. RB's are locked for the lack of options. Forte and Bradshaw are going. T. Jones is on a bye week with Patriots west. Portis is going to have a reduced role as McNabb will dominate this comeback to Philly and show those fans what they took for granted.
After this week I can add one player for my roster. It could be any position. I have Cushing playing next week and I will drop my pickup for this week Stephen Cooper of SD. Current roster breakdown are as follows;
Qb- Brady, McNabb
Rb1- Bradshaw, T. Jones
Rb2- Forte, Portis
Wr1- R. Moss, A. Miles
Wr2- Manningham, D. Thomas
Te- Cooley
K- Akers
Team D- Pats
D Players- Mayo, Briggs, Vilma, Greenway, Cushing, Cooper
I ask our readers for any help they can give and any sleepers I may not be aware of are always welcome. Thinking the law firm has another good week vs the phins I may just add him and be done with it.

I did play Tom and Moss. Not too bad for what happened. I did also get 2 whole points from the defense. I said I am going to ride the D till the break, so I got 2 more games to see if there worth keeping for the rest of the season.
This being the 1st season of drafting defensive players I am doing ok. My players are Vilma, Mayo, Briggs, Greenway and yet to play Cushing. I figured that the players that make the most tackles would give me the most consistent point supply. It seems to be a sound way to do it so far.
Forte had another receiving TD this past week. 1.5 TD's a game not too shabby. Cooley, once again had a great game and will destroy St. Louis this week. I am even thinking of starting McNabb instead of Brady. Last week the Bills contained a similar attack from Green Bay. Aaron Rodgers didn't light up the d which I thought they would. The only bright spot was Finley the TE that went for 100 yards receiving. If you have either gronk or Hernandez play um with confidence.
After a couple back and forth’s with TD ninja, we both came to the conclusions that we'll be friends except when the Pats and Phins play. He insisted that his team would walk all over the JETS JETS JETS JETS. I said good then you'll be ready for the 1st meeting of our 2 teams. I hope the phins beat the snot out of them.
Well here is your chance to help this great team of players. Tell me what you think. Should I start Tom thinking he's going to have a bounce back week, or is McNabb’s opponent impotent enough to make up the difference? Should I keep riding the Forte train? Do I give Portis Vs. St Louis D a shot over Bradshaw Vs. the Titians defense?
FF update for the SBN AFCE Week #1- Well now, that was easy

My results for FF from week #1. I'll admit I never thought that Forte would have a big game like this one. Now that MM (Mike Martz, author of the greatest show on turf) said he is alot like Marshal Faulk. I really look forward to see how his talent will be used. It is a PPR league and I am going to take advantage of this for as long as possible.
Some other side notes on the team- I did pick up Cleveland for the week. I have reacquired the Pats defense for the future. Maybe I’ll drop them on the bye week, but if they do well until then I may just keep them for the rest of the season.
Some little gambles did pay off- Chris Cooley I drafted in all of my FF teams. Chris only played 3 weeks last season and with Jason Campbell as the QB he was a Pro bowler in the past. I thought that McNabb (which I have as a back up) loves TE’s and he made Celek a top FF TE. What would he do with a Pro Bowl type talent. I came up with a Dallas Clark Vibe and need to draft him. So far so good.
It was mostly a walk, from the finish of the 1st set of games on Sunday. I once again invite any comments or suggestions for my team and how I can be more dominate. Last week it was a Jets fan, this week it’s a Phin’s phan. Keeps harping on the whole my team was undefeated and yours wasn't. Every thing he comes up with a bring 3 Pats facts he didn't know. It's getting trying but simple minds and all. I let him do the engaging and I completely dissolve the argument he's trying to piece together. Eventually when the weekend comes around I'll let my team do the talking. "we don't lose to the Jets, we Fing Hate the Jets, we never lose to the JETS"-BB
SBN AFC EAST League Draft results
For those of you that tried to get in I do apologize. The commissioner that invited me has disappeared and I have not heard from him since the invitation. He wasn't even at the draft that was this past Saturday. I tried to get a couple more Pats fans in, but no go.
Here's how the league stacks up. 5 fans/teams for the Bills (I guess we have a 100% compliance) 3 for the Phins, Jets, & Pats with a total of 14 teams. Here is whom I drafted. Please don't kill me for the last couple of picks. There always a stretch and this is the 1st team I have ever had to draft defensive players. There will be some corrections to make my roster more even. I'll get to that after the jump.

Guilty Pleasure Player: Chauncey Billups
Chauncey was a tuff nosed defender that could score and dominate the game in college. He was drafted 3rd after Tim Duncan and Keith Van Horn. The year that the Celtics didn't turned it around, No Timmy, no hope. I am not sure what Pitino was thinking stashing him on the END of the bench. He would get his 3-6 min every other game and try to be a spark. He was trying to play outside his game. He was trying to be the next Jason Kidd. He of course was Chauncey and currently I would rather have his career over Kidd's any day. He wasn't being Chauncey and he never made it off the end of the bench. Pitino needed a passer and Chauncey tried for most of his rookie season before he was traded to Toronto for Kenny Anderson. I would tell any one that Chauncey will be a difference maker in the NBA and would be an all star in a short couple of years. First, I would get "who??!!!", or "that guy on the end of the bench that never plays". I would answer in the affirmative and they would give me a cross-eyed glance and smile like there confronting a crazy person.
04 Finals MVP and Winner
2 time All-Defensive Team
5 time all star
3 time all NBA team
One gold medal.
I must have been crazy.
looking for 2 good pats fans for FF
I have been invited to play FF in the SB Nation AFCE League on Yahoo. It is made up of 4 divisions for Pats fans, Jets fans, Dolphins phans and the Buffaloed Bills fans. We are currently 2 short for the Pats Pulpit and need some help. Please be kind to our AFCE neighbors and you are welcome to join. Contact Chad Henne is your new bicycle (email included in original post) or look up his original post for this league.
Good luck and of course as little injuries as possible. Springfield Sioux
2 for 1 with Sheed
OK I know a lot of you guys have been passing around the idea of a trade for Sheed's contract and maybe another piece to get a deal done for an impact player off the bench. Here's our roster as it stands right now
Rondo/Nate/ Lafayette
Ray Ray/ Bradley/ Gaffney/Lafayette
PP/ Gaffney/ Skywalker
KG/ BBD/ Skywalker
Perk(O’Neil till he comes back)/ O’Neil/ Erden Smith/ BBD
13 players including 2 rookies Bradley and Luke Skywalker Haggondy. Not sure if they have signed yet, but with our payroll I would imagine both are going to. Including Sheed on this list and you got 14. I think we need another big and a wing.
Here's how I think we should get to 15 with out spending more, in fact maybe spending less. 2 trade ideas for the Celtics.
Trade # 1 with 76ers
Sheed 6.3 for T. Young 2.9 + M. Speights 1.8(4.7) + Cash to make it work. Or wait till 8/17 and add Hawes and Lafayette to make it work for both sides. In the latter the Celtics get a wing and 2 big’s that can spell Ray, PP, O’Neil, KG and Perk when he returns. 76ers get a guard to back up and about 6 million in cap relief which there over so the number doubles to 12 million. They get rid of Young who is a back up and has been in the dog house more then often. They get rid of Speights who for no reason I can see is always in the dog house and Hawes who is filler from the Dalembert trade with the Kings.
Trade # 2 with Cavs
Sheed 6.3 for D. West 4.5 and Leon "the Show" Powe 1. May need some filler for that one to work, but that’s the nuts and bolts of it.
Not going for big names. Modest trades for solid NBA guys with enough experience to help this season. I would be more then happy to get either. I think both trades do address both needs for the Celtics.
I know it's frustrating to just sit back and watch all the FA's go to other team while the C's take care of there own. I know it dosn't get enough attention but in Danny or DA we trust. We are talking about positions 9-13 on the roster. The bench will determine where we end up in the regular season. The health of this team will determine where we end up in the playoffs. Here's to a healthy season for everyone involved.
P.S. If Sheed gets bought out from which ever team his contract goes to. I wouldn't be upset if we PJ brown him into the playoffs.
to George the Boss
In 2004 after the greatest comeback in sports history occurred. There sat the Boss in his box with his cronies. Seething at the fact that the Redsoxs, of all teams had completed the comeback and sent there beloved Yankees golfing. George could have done what most expected of him and sent out security to the field to usher off the celebrating AL champs to the clubhouse and get all the Redsoxs fans out of there stadium. Instead George did what few had guessed. He turned to his security teams and said " let them celebrate, they earned it".
I love my soxs. Every player, every year. When I was younger and full of piss an vinegar I would say things that wouldn’t be to nice about this man. As I got smarter and older I realized that the feelings about him had changed.
The reason that the Redsoxs won the WS in 04 and to a lesser extent the 07 one was him. Not so much George but his attitude towards winning and putting the highest caliber team out there every single season, every single game. The Soxs had a choice either play with them of keep getting retreads of old all stars and hope they could compete. Canseco, Dawson, Saberhagen, Viola just to name a few that jump off my head.
The soxs brought in a new ownership group and they wanted to win and beat the great Yankees. When the Soxs acquired Manny Ramirez from Cleveland you could tell he was a great central piece for a championship team. The tide had turned at least in the smallest way, but this was the start.
I look back now and I want to say thank you George. Thank you for pushing the Redsoxs(the Rays too for that matter) to be a better team. Proving the likes of Troy O’Leary and Darren Bragg's of the world just won't cut it. Great guys, but we needed great ball players as well.
George's truly class act in 04, the way he changed baseball (for the better, I think) and his great relationship with Billy Martin, these are the things I will always think about when people bring up the Boss.
I don't hate him or the Yankees or even his sons. I feel you have to care a whole bunch to hate something or someone. At this point in my life I don't care for them, but I will never hate them agian. Hating takes too much time and effort. I have my golf game if I want to work on something.
Free Agency: In the middle, bits and pieces
OK, so the cards have been falling for a week. The east is starting to solidify and the power has shifted. Last season it was the Celtics, Magic and Cavs. This season I would rank the teams as follows Celtics, Magic and Heat in that order. Like the Yankees and the Redskins, just cause you pay the most for your team doesn’t guarantee any Title. The Titles are for the best teams, not the best players on a team. That is what MVP's are for.
I look forward to this season with a great sense of anticipation. I think our roster needs to be filled out at least 2-3 more bit players or one more piece. This idea has been rolling around in my head for the past week. Please wait till I am done before I address any questions.
2 possible S&T options. The teams are the Celtics, Twolves and the 76ers. 1st I would like to say that I love Nate came here and he was a fire plug. The celtics would never had made it as far as they did with out him. Thank you Natron but now you are a more vaulable trading piece then a bench player.
Twolves= Sheed 6.5 + Nate 5.5(new sign, 110% of last year salary) for AL Jefferson 12.5. I know JO has D but AL is instant offence for the 2nd team can play starters minuets and start if needed.
76ers= Sheed 6.5 + Nate 5.5 for Andre Iggy 12. Iggy could be Ray's or the truths replacement or resting them for the Playoff run.
76ers part 2= Sheed+ Nate+ Finley 2 for Iggy and Speight or Hawes.
I REALLY like the last option. I LOVE Speight’s hustle grit and tude. Hawes has HUGE upside even when playing for the Kings you could tell.
SIGN & TRADE for IGGY and a PF/C.
