What just happened? Recapping the Big XII, Week 11

Well, that was informative. A lot of people came into this week questioning Baylor's schedule and wondering what the hell OU was going to be capable of this year. I think it's safe to say that...

What just happened? Recapping the Big 12, Week 10

Oklahoma State rolled over Texas Tech in the weekend's biggest matchup. Elsewhere, West Virginia survived TCU, and KU kept its streak alive.

What just happened? Recapping the Big 12, Week 9

Texas just keeps winning, Texas Tech doesn't, Iowa State's miserable season continues, and the KU Big 12 Losing Streak Watch is now at 24.

What just happened? Recapping the Big 12, Week 8

Baylor got back on track and eviscerated Iowa State, while Oklahoma struggled with KU. Elsewhere, Oklahoma State strangled TCU (or let TCU strangle itself), while Texas Tech outlasted West Virginia in Morgantown.

What just happened? Recapping the Big 12, Week 7

Texas shocked Oklahoma in Dallas, TCU won an ugly-fest against KU, and Texas Tech survived a game Iowa State.

What just happened? Recapping the Big XII, Week 6

Baylor keeps playing video games, Tech wakes up to roll KU, Oklahoma and Okie State survive their purple opponents, and Iowa State outderps Texas.

What just happened? Recapping the Big XII, Week 5

Iowa State gets a win, West Virginia finds redemption at Oklahoma State's expense, Oklahoma salvages some non-conference pride, and TCU turns it on in the second half. Time for full conference play.

What just happened? Recapping the Big XII, Week 4

Baylor continues to play video games, several teams take a week off -- including a couple who actually played games -- and KU finally beats an FBS opponent.

What just happened? Recapping the Big XII, Week 3

It was another less-than-impressive week for the Big 12. Iowa State lost to Iowa, KU lost to Rice, Ole Miss drubbed Texas, TCU looks punchless, and everyone else played a bunch of nobodies.

What just happened? Recapping the Big XII, Week 2

Another week, another blow to the conference's image. The Big XII has built up a lot of equity with voters and media alike, but this season is starting to test that image. Someone needs to emerge as a national contender, and quickly. Who will it be?

What just happened? Recapping the Big 12, Week 1

One win over the SEC, two losses to FCS schools, school records on offense. Oh, and Baylor apparently played a Waffle House.

RealGM Article comparing Frank Martin and Bruce Weber

2

Pretty interesting article over at RealGM.com analyzing the differences between Bruce Weber and Frank Martin in how their freshman players performed, how their transfers performed, and how their players improves through their careers. Similar to the analysis that was done here on BotC, but hits some points that weren't covered while supporting some others that were.

"Are you ready for that moment?" -Bill Self

+
H/T to Bensa for the original fanshot, I missed it yesterday so sent this one to the FP for further viewing. - Denver Great, lengthy article on si.com almost entirely about Bill Self. There's also a link to another article the author wrote at the top of the page that is focused on the Jayhawks as a whole. Apparently while writing that article Joe Posnanski was so fascinated by Self that he wrote the piece I linked to. Read it, tis fun.

KU Football adds Darrell Wyatt

What can you say? Turner Gill gets another good hire, DW was the Associate Head Coach and OC for Southern Miss. He's familiar with KU because he coached here before, and he's been learning from Larry Fedora. Not to mention he's supposed to be a good recruiter as well. Sounds good to me.

Eyes on the prize

+

Article on the LJworld.com website about the men's basketball team doing what it takes in the weight room. Some ridiculous numbers about how much all of them have improved in there since coming to KU. Read it. It'll make you yearn for next year.

Final Rivals Rankings Released

1

Rivals finally released its last set of rankings for the 2009 class. Looks like Elijah Johnson moved up to five-star status (checking in at #24) while Thomas Robinson moved down to #31. I don't give a sh*t really, but I'm glad we're still getting a five-star - I'm probably even a bit happier its EJ since I feel like rankings matter more to guards.

Interesting piece on Izzo's methods

+

Most of you probably already check out espn.com enough that you saw this article anyways, but I thought it was interesting enough to merit a link. I know its not exactly KU related, so just call me out if its too out of line for this site, but its a nice piece on some of the things Tom Izzo does at MSU that have a proven track record of success in the postseason, when its toughest to get your teams prepped. Anyone know if we've got anything like this going on in Lawrence? If not, here's guessing that Lew Perkins is down.

Bill Self is AP COY

3

Pretty much a foregone conclusion, but the AP announced today that Bill Self won the Coach of the Year award. Congrats Coach Self!

B-Rush on a late tear

8

Sounds like B-Rush might be finding his scoring touch in the pros. Probably helps that Indy is lottery bound and his playing time is seeing a spike (see: three straight starts), but I'm glad for the guy. His game always seemed well-suited for the League, and hopefully Indy's got another steal from that team we know so well.

Big XII Mens Basketball Awards Announced

Collins named finalist for Bob Cousy Award for nations best point guard

2

Good news that Sherron was named one of 17 finalists for the Bob Cousy award. I don't like his chances of winning the whole thing, but I'm glad he's getting at least some of the recognition he deserves. Hats off to one of the most exciting jayhawks I've seen.
