Article on the LJworld.com website about the men's basketball team doing what it takes in the weight room. Some ridiculous numbers about how much all of them have improved in there since coming to KU. Read it. It'll make you yearn for next year.

Rivals finally released its last set of rankings for the 2009 class. Looks like Elijah Johnson moved up to five-star status (checking in at #24) while Thomas Robinson moved down to #31. I don't give a sh*t really, but I'm glad we're still getting a five-star - I'm probably even a bit happier its EJ since I feel like rankings matter more to guards.

Most of you probably already check out espn.com enough that you saw this article anyways, but I thought it was interesting enough to merit a link. I know its not exactly KU related, so just call me out if its too out of line for this site, but its a nice piece on some of the things Tom Izzo does at MSU that have a proven track record of success in the postseason, when its toughest to get your teams prepped. Anyone know if we've got anything like this going on in Lawrence? If not, here's guessing that Lew Perkins is down.

Pretty much a foregone conclusion, but the AP announced today that Bill Self won the Coach of the Year award.
Congrats Coach Self!

Sounds like B-Rush might be finding his scoring touch in the pros. Probably helps that Indy is lottery bound and his playing time is seeing a spike (see: three straight starts), but I'm glad for the guy. His game always seemed well-suited for the League, and hopefully Indy's got another steal from that team we know so well.

Big XII Mens Basketball Awards Announced

Here's a link to the Big XII site where they list they awards.

The Jayhawks did pretty well for themselves in a "rebuilding" year (I say that as a joke nowadays): Coletrane got Co-Defensive Player of the Year with J.T. Tiller, Bill Self got COY, and both Sherron and Cole were First-Team All-Big XII (with Sherron and Blake Griffin as the only unanimous selections, which is very cool). In addition, Tyshawn and McMorris were named to the All-Rookie team too.

Anyone else think its funny that this year we get two First-teamers and last year we had none?

All in all, I think that our guys got the recognition they deserved. Would have been nice to see TSquared get Honorable mention, but he was pretty inconsistent for most of Big XII play.

Rock Chalk and good luck to these guys in the Big XII Tournament!

Good news that Sherron was named one of 17 finalists for the Bob Cousy award. I don't like his chances of winning the whole thing, but I'm glad he's getting at least some of the recognition he deserves. Hats off to one of the most exciting jayhawks I've seen.
