Jets to cut Woody, Jenkins, Gholston, Taylor
The Jests have cut Damien Woody, their RT. Next up (supposedly) are NT Kris Jenkins, DE/OLB Vernon Gholston and OLB Jason Taylor. Who should we sign, if anybody? I vote Woody on a 1-year deal with a team option (he can play RT or LG), same for Jenkins (if he's healthy), and a futures-style contract for Gholston.
Slightly Unconventional Mock Draft 4.0
I'm back...with a mock that doesn't have Patrick Peterson going 1st overall. Instead:
1. Carolina-Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson
Slightly Unconventional Mock Draft 3.0
That's right, I'm back. With another mock.
1. Carolina-Patrick Peterson, CB/RS, LSU
Fins Mock Draft
I don't remember if Matty said anything about posting all 2011 mocks on Mocking the Draft. If he did, oh well. It's going here because it's for Dolfans. If he didn't, alright! So, I present a 7-round mock draft for the Miami Dolphins:

Santana Moss a Free Agent
Apparently, Chainsaw Dan Snyder and the Deadskins are going to let their leading receiver walk. He's in his 30's, but he's still fast and can create for himself. Think he's worth a look?
Slightly Unconventional Mock Draft 2.0
Here's my updated version of my draft (after the Senior Bowl practices and the East-West Shrine Game):
1. Carolina-Patrick Peterson, CB/RS, LSU
The Brian Daboll Fallout-What Does He Have to Work With?
According to major pro football sources everywhere, Brian Daboll (former Cleveland OC) is Miami's new OC. Initial reaction: WHAT? My stab at the FO's reasoning: with a possible lockout coming, we don't want to bring in a new system that our players would have two weeks to learn. So no Childress or McDaniels. John Garrett's staying, OK. That leaves Chris Palmer, Daboll and Rob Chudzinski. Hmm...Daboll worked with the Jets, Patriots and Browns. He was a QB coach in New England and New York (check) and was an OC in Cleveland (check). Colt McCoy played pretty well despite being "too short" and Cleveland managed to upset a few teams (including us...). Well, hell, if we bring him in, he can't lead Cleveland to another upset victory!
BREAKING NEWS: Brian Daboll named Miami's OC
Throwing Darts: The Offseason
Some random internet dude's opinion on what the Fins should do this offseason:
Offensive Coordinator:
Candidates (These are from the Phinsider)?
Chris Palmer (former Browns HC), Rob Chudzinski (former Browns OC, current Chargers TE coach), Brian Daboll (former Browns OC), Brad Childress (former Eagles QB coach/OC and Vikings HC) and John Garrett (Cowboys TE coach). The hottest candidate this offseason is Josh McDaniels. Who knows? Ross might take that money he couldn't spend on Jim Harbaugh and throw it at McDaniels. But my dark horse candidate is Tom Clements, the Packers' QB coach. What does he have going for him?
-Came to Green Bay in 2006 after a stint as the Buffalo Bills' OC in 04-05 and as a professional QB coach since 1997.
-In 04, his offense ranked 7th in the NFL with 24.7 PPG. In 05, his offense ranked 24th (could be attributed to starting J.P. Losman for eight games, though I'll let you guys make your own opinions).
-Who has he helped groom in Green Bay? Some guy by the name of Aaron Rodgers. From what I hear, he's decent.
-He's learned a QB-friendly offense from Mike McCarthy in Green Bay.

Game Notes and Mock Draft (Miami Edition)
Oh wow. After watching the Dolphins-Lions game (at the stadium, no less!); I came away convinced of a few things:
Injuries have severely hurt this team:
-Losing Brian Hartline robbed the team of its best deep threat/YAC guy, forcing Henne to consistently throw it shorter than both what the offense needed and what the fans wanted to see.
-Losing Chad Pennington took away the team's best passer for Dan Henning's system (which better not be around much longer!)
-Losing Vernon Carey has robbed the team of a veteran presence and a fierce run-blocker. His pass-blocking is on the way down though.
-Losing Karlos Dansby (for this game) took away the team's best cover man when it comes to tight ends and running backs. Think Jahvid Best's catch-and-run would have ended differently if Dansby was there?

Bullet Points
A breakdown of the game as I saw it from behind the UK bench, divided into good, bad, ugly, and mystifying.
The Good:
Bilal Powell: Watch the 80-yard TD run again. And again. Just loop it. That was the highlight of the game.
Cameron Graham: Showed solid hands and the ability to make the catch in tight spaces. Good.
Doug Beaumont: Clutch as usual, except for the fair catch at the 6. I'll forgive him.

From Green and White to Aqua and Orange, Part 1
As has been publicized, the Jets have some contract issues for 2011. Braylon Edwards, Santonio Holmes, Antonio Cromartie, Nick Mangold, D'Brickashaw Ferguson and David Harris could all be free agents next year (depending on the CBA). Darrelle Revis is not included (he's too valuable to the Jets to let go). How nice would it be to get
a player from the Jets instead of the other way around?
Part 1 will cover the two recieivers. This will be a 3-part installment.

Help Wanted (and a Possible Solution)
"Looking for fast receiver able to stretch the field and exploit single coverage. Experience a plus, but not necessary. Must be able to catch the ball. Return experience also a plus."
When Ted Ginn was traded, the Fins lost their legitimate deep threat. Sure, Brandon Marshall can use his size to get the bomb from Henne, and Hartline can sneak past a corner occasionally. But behind them, not much else in the way of speed. Candidates for the speedy receiver role?
Smiley and a Brief Look at Prospective Starters
Since he's effectively dead in the water (at least to the FO), I'm launching a poll: where will he go?
Rocky McIntosh Available?
Rocky McIntosh, weakside linebacker for the Washington Redskins, did not report to minicamp today. Supposedly, Shanahan and Allen have told him he's being shopped. Think Miami would be interested? Have him split time with Wake?
Just Curious
With the draft now just 7 days away, I've decided to run a poll for you guys (and girls): what should Miami do?
Addressing Linebacker
Miami needs some outside linebackers. Badly. But a more underrated issue is ILB depth. After Dansby, Crowder and Torbor are the backups. Neither of them cover very well, which is why Miami should address it in the draft.
My ideal pick:
Franchise Players
A new series on SB Nation's NFL blogs brought to you by me! Five most important players to the franchise. Just one catch:
They have to be with the team for the long term future (four years or more)
In no order:
Franchise Players
So, I'm running a series on this topic. Five most important players to the team. Just one catch:
They have to be with the team for the long-term future (four years or more).

So, this is a series I'm doing across SB Nation's NFL blogs. Five most important players to the franchise.
Just one catch: they have to be with the team for the long term future (four years or more).

So I'm doing this as a series of sorts; getting fans' opinions on the five most important players to their team. Your turn! One term: they have to be with the team for the long term (four years or more).
In no particular order:
Franchise Players
As a change from the free agency/mock draft posts, I'm going to ask a question: who are the five most important players to the team right now (my opinion after the jump)? Just one catch:
They have to be with the team for the long term (four years or more).

Franchise Players
So, I was wondering: who are the Dolphins' most important players right now? I had one major criteria:
Likely to stay with team for long term (Four years or more)
Note: I'm not counting Dansby because two good, young corners are more important than a very good inside linebacker (only a few cases are exceptions).
The Latest Mock From Me
New to Mocking the Draft, not new to SB Nation. Here we go...
Mock Draft
You all know the needs and the reasons. Cornerback, defensive line, linebacker. Somebody next to Finnegan. A big man in the middle with Tony Brown. Someone to replace Keith Bulluck or David Thornton, depending on where McRath plays. Moving on to the mock...
Mock Draft
Since my first post (JC) was well-received by you (the Hogs Haven denizens), I feel safe in posting a mock draft here. Moving on!
Draft
This one could-and will-shock and confuse some people, possibly provoking them into schoolyard taunting. Moving on!
A Lighter Look at the Joey Porter Problem
J-Peezy: he wants out. Why not look at it from a feud-based standpoint?
