Goerge, please dont talk to anybody about anything until March 7th. All you can do is bad.

The reason I wrote about that Kings was, I was kind surprised how uneducated I was about the whole thing. Just from what it seemed like most people thought was going on versus what was actually going on. And the more and more people I talked to like it was just clearly, the owners were running out of money and scrambling to try and figure out any way to keep their team and cover their debt and all that stuff.

Sactown Royalty Kings vs. Heat - The view from section who-cares, I'm in SACRAMENTO!!!

Ok, I'll do my best to keep any discussions about my personal homecoming out of this (at least until the end).  I am sure everyone has more to gain (I'd like to think so) from my game observations than updates on my personal life (even if Section214 does enjoy my wife being closer to the mother ship).

And with that triple bracketed introductory paragraph, lets get this started.

4 years, 3.8 million with the last 2 being separate team options. FYI, this in basically the contract a top 15 pick is guaranteed.

This article does a really good job breaking down the many parties and their respective roles in the proposed land swap plan.

Not sure who Scott Howard Cooper is, but apparently he writes for NBA.com

according to his Twitter account, 11 votes have recently switched from Tyreke to Curry for ROY. I guess the Warriors are making some sort of PR push.

Consider me paranoid, but I am scared GS is going to steal another award from us (ala KM's MIP). Where is that tinfoil hat...

Sactown Royalty The view from Section 104 Row A: Kings-Clippers 2/20

So Saturday night's "game" may not have been very memorable.  The Kings didn't play all that well, the Clippers shot the lights out from 3, and another big man (Kaman) destroyed us inside.  That doesn't mean that the night was a total loss.  I got there about an hour before tip off, just in time to see the team warm-up.  Plus, my seats were so close, that I could easily hear the guys talking during time outs and while on the floor.  Ziller already did a great recap of the game (and it was two days ago), so I am going to mainly focus on how the players interacted with one another.

Sactown Royalty I have been rumored!!!

Ok, so I have a friend that knows a guy (don't all good rumors start this way) with some inside knowledge.  I call it it inside based the fact that he has access to a guy that could legitimately hear of a rumor, and his isnt the type of guy to make stuff up.  Normally I would just give my pal the old, yah whatever, but in 6 years, he's never came to me quoting his source.  Never.  So, if he did make it up, I think he wouldnt quote the source.  If you know what I mean...

Sactown Royalty The last second shot...

Ok, so the title is a little misleading, but its for a good cause!  I’ve tried to resist, but I just can’t go any longer without asking for your help one more time.  As you may remember, in December I posted asking for your help with a fundraiser that I am involved with to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  In short, my wife and I will be riding 100 miles (each!) on our bikes this February 13th to raise money along with Team in Training.  I really recommend you read about it in my original post here so I don’t have to type it (and some of you wont have to read it) twice.

Sactown Royalty Feasability of the Sacramento Convergence

(If you're at all interesting in the Kings arena saga, please read this. Big thanks from the site to edm7 for getting ahold of the plan Thursday night. -- TZ)

First off, a BIG shout out to edm7 for taking the time to type out the proposal in his FanPost.  If you haven't read it, I recommend taking 5 minutes to get familiar.  There is a lot of good information that I wont cover below.

First thing after the jump, I'll break down different parts of the proposal, followed by my always biased personal opinion.  This is a extremely carefully worded proposal, and did not get thrown together in a week or two.  I'll try to point out some of the intricacies and reasoning behind them.

Sactown Royalty I need your help!

Ok everyone, I am about to go out on a limb.  I will be exposing a large part of my personal life to a group of online bloggers that I have never met (so take it easy Pookey).  I am willing to do this, along with a much more challenging endurance event, in honor of some very important people in my life.

In the many years since I found this site, the good people of Sactown Royalty have proven themselves to be very giving.  Your amazing generosity allowed us to reach our goal of raising $1000 for the Sacramento SPCA in the name of Kenny Thomas.  (Surprisingly, nobody has mentioned this is while the inspiration himself has managed to find his way out of the doghouse.  Coincidence; I think not.)  And while it may not have raised as much money, the $27 (plus TZ's match of $27 more) we were able to raise through the famous Peaches tee shirt drive will forever live in infamy.

Hey everyone, Joe Maloof is about to come on my local AM radio station. I will try to dictate his more important comments.

He will be spending draft night in the "war room" in Sacramento (not important).

He has been present for all "important" PG work outs.

Feels like the draft is actually very deep and that they have good plans for the next day or so. (Hhhmmm)

He said that the Kings will be drafting a PG first, not as a slap to Beno, but due to a lack of depth at the position.

It was "vital" to hire a coach before the draft. Very happy with Paul.

The economy will be affecting how the team works with personnel and potential personnel in the future. Belives their current financial situation (under the cap) gives them a major advantage over other teams.

Confident that a new stadium will be worked out at Cal Expo. more worried about putting a quality team on the floor then getting a new stadium (good to hear, even if its just PR)

Talking about some local skateboarding event he is sponsoring....

....

The basketball suite in Vegas is popular...

....

Ok, that was pointless. You might not get your 2 minutes back from reading this, but I wont get the 10 minutes back I spent listening and typing.

Dammit.

Add another point guard to the pool. I dont know much about him, but the more point guards to chose from, the better. No offense Beno (well, maybe a little offense)

Pretty interesting. At least the NBA acknowledges that smallmarket teams may need financial help. Doesnt say great things about the current state of the league though.

Sactown Royalty The View from my couch: Games 1-20

As some of my disruntled, poorly-worded and typo-filled posts this season may have hinted, I have'nt been operating at 100%.  Long story short, I do not recommend severing nerves in your hand.  Its not cool.  Do you realize EVERYTHING you do all day requires two hands?  Try buttoning your pants or putting on a belt with one hand, let alone type.  As a standard touch-typist, one handed hunt-and-peck is beyond frustrating.  Following games online, listening (er, reading?) to you all (and the too oft trollers) debate, talk trash and prophetise on the future of our beloved franchise is both frustrating and entertaining.  Luckily, my primary paw is back, and I am ready to vent.

Mark Stein is one of the only national writers that has any merit in my eyes. I think he's pretty close with his pre-season (pre-training camp really) rankings. He puts the Kings at 23, when I would rank them at 19. Just an FYI to the Sactown faithful.

Sactown Royalty It's been a while...

...I know its been a while since I've posted. Pretty much since the season ended. While I still read the site every day, I wasn't going to post until after the Finals. I needed to detox. And then this story broke, so much for that idea.

(I have TONS of thoughts on so many posts, which I will respond to over the next bottle of wine...I mean few hours. First, I want to get to some of my thoughts).

Sactown Royalty Sonic fans bring me clarity

I have purposely avoided all things Kings since the loss to the Heat.  The lack of effort killed me.  Learning that much of it was due to partying too much the night before made it even worse.  I didnt watch the Kings-Hawks game by choice.  That is the first game I have missed all year that I was available to watch.  I did not follow online either.  I just read the game thread this morning, snd I am glad I did not watch.

Sactown Royalty Live from Los Angeles...

(27freethrows was lucky enough [snort] to attend the Kings-Clippers game last night. These are his observations. -- TZ)

Last night was the first of four trips to LA for the Kings, so of course I was there.  I was able to score 4th row tickets directly behind the Kings bench, and wanted to watch how everyone interacted with coach Theus.  (I tried to post this last night, but the weather made my phone "unable to connect to edge")  Here are my thoughts on the game, written down section214 style.
