I am a huge Iowa Hawkeye and Miami Dolphin fan. I am a recent (somewhat) Iowa grad, and I am in the minority of people that would rather see Iowa really good at Basketball as compared to being just good in football. Obviously I love the fact that we have a great football team, but I would much rather have a dominate team to run out every March on the hardwood. I follow Iowa recruiting quite a bit, but have absolutely no insider information or contacts, I basically form my own opinions based on video's and information I see from others.
My profile name is play on the old internet video for 2 girls 1 cup. Being a big Miami Dolphin fan, I absolutely can't stand Peyton Manning (before realignment was in the same division). I also hate the SEC and all things SEC related, so that encompasses both Ole Miss and Tennessee. And I think Eli Manning is a crybaby jackass, but thats neither here nor there. So eat shit Peyton, Eli, Archie, the older one that didn't play football, Ms. Manning, anything related to the SEC.

Fun way to F* with the coaching search
So, its been awhile since I have posted, but I have an ingenious borderline juvenile idea to have some fun with the coaching search. First off, in no way do I believe that the email listed goes directly to Gary Barta nor do I believe that the fax goes directly to him without filter either, but I think it would be fun to spam the athletic department with random tidbits of information on our favorite potential coaches. Example- I am going to fax Steve Lavin's wikipedia page to the number listed. Here is the link to the posting on the U's job site: http://jobs.uiowa.edu/pands/view/57730
Please I encourage you all to have fun with this.
Where's that Hawkeye?
So me and my roommate are watching the WWL this afternoon and one of those annoying acne commercials came on. It was a procative one, and regardless if that shit works or not, I can attest that they always find smoking hot chicks for the commercials. So there was this just gorgeous chick in the commercial that was some sort of quasi celebrity, but we couldn't remember her name. I decided to make an executive decision and go to proactive.com to see if I could find out the chicks name so I could add her to the old spank bank hot celebrity list. Luckily on their website they have a celebrity section. So I figure why not? This is where it has to be. And then the hilarity started.
I found this little guy/monster mother fucker on there as a celebrity. It just goes to show, that if DJK gets with the program, maybe he will have some future after football, as this other hawkeye great. Enjoy. BTW, kind of discouraging that the article only talks about the NFL, when he did very little in the NFL, and there is no mention of his Iowa playing days, or the supposed rumor that he never ate a piece of candy, drank pop, or alcohol.
Enjoy.
Brent Musberger Drinking Game
If you are watching tonights game in a large party atmosphere, I recommend giving the Brent Musberger Drinking game a shot. Go Hawks!
Did DJK kill someone
Or am I to assume that they are just trying to motivate the young fellow? I read elsewhere, and I didn't verify it, but at his current 2 year pace, DJK is on pace to leave as Iowa's leading receiver in catches and yards. Yet somehow this is the second or third time I have seen on a blog or from hawkeyereport.com where they have listed him down on the depth chart.
According to Blair Sanderson, who is simply taking this information 2009 Media Fact book (story here),
the two deeps for the Hawkeyes are below:
OFFENSE
SE - Marvin McNutt, Colin Sandeman/ Derrell Johnson-Koulianos
LT - Bryan Bulaga, Riley Reiff
LG - Dace Richardson, Kyle Haganman/Andy Kuempel
C - Rafael Eubanks, Josh Koeppel
RG - Julian Vandervelde, Dan Doering/Adam Gettis
RT - Kyle Calloway, Markus Zusevics
TE - Tony Moeaki, Allen Reisner
QB - Ricky Stanzi, James Vandenberg/John Wienke
WR - Trey Stross, Paul Chaney
RB - Jewel Hampton, Paki O'Meara
FB - Brett Morse, Wade Leppert
DEFENSE
DE - Adrian Clayborn, Lebron Daniel
DT - Karl Klug, Steve Bigach
DT - Mike Daniels, Travis Meade/Cody Hundertmark
DE - Christian Ballard, Broderick Binns
OLB - A.J. Edds, Tyler Nielsen
MLB - Pat Angerer, Troy Johnson
WLB - Jeremiha Hunter, Jeff Tarpinian
CB - Jordan Bernstine, Shaun Prater/William Lowe
CB - Amari Spievey, Greg Castillo
SS - Tyler Sash, Davis Cato
FS - Brett Greenwood, Jack Swanson
SPECIAL TEAMS
K - Daniel Murray, Trent Mossbrucker
P - Ryan Donahue, Eric Guthrie
H - Ryan Donahue
LS - Andrew Schulze
PR - Colin Sandeman, Tyler Sash
KR - Jewel Hampton, Paki O'Meara
I highlighted the names that stuck out to me.
- DJK is listed as a co-2nd team Split End.
- Dace Richardson is the #1 left guard, great to see the big fella healthy
- Rafeal Eubanks is looking to end his career as a starter back at center, where it began.
- The staff is still dodging the second team quarterback, mainly so that they can add speculation to the roster (my opinion, even though I have no idea who is actually the better player)
- The Paki-bomb is listed as the backup tailback. I think that might be in paper form only, as one could expect that Brinson and Wegher once he gets brought up to speed will be ahead of Paki due to the vast difference in athletic ability between the players.
- Clayborn/Ballard are both still listed at DE. There has been much speculation that one of them might slip to the inside on a full-time basis, but it appears that as of now, thats still just speculation. Binns could still see time during passing downs (which I see happening in all likelihood.)
- Hunter still has the edge in the battle against Tarp. Tarp is mostly an unknown to most, due to his injuries keeping him off of the field, but this was a big time position battle a year ago, and they say its still a close one.
- Murray appears to be winning the kicker battle.
- We have a backup punter and his name is Eric Guthrie.
- Tyler Sash is listed as the backup punt returner. Tyler Sash likes to kill people.
- Jewel Hampton is listed as the starting kick returner. The last starting running back that I remember having a prominent role in the return game was...I don't ever remember it. Jermelle Lewis was a return man for us, but he was not necessarily a starter at running back (even though he did play a lot.)
- DJK, who has slid down the depth chart (supposedly) at wide receiver isn't back up on the 2 deeps at kick returner, where he as a freshman was the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be(Minus the pink visor.)
How does everyone feel about these, and is there anything that anyone else thinks kind of looks different than expected?
Zach McCabe
Zach McCabe is the most recent commitment to the Hawkeyes class of '10 basketball team. If anyone has been following Iowa recruiting, you'd know that a lot of Hawkeye fans, and the recruiting services have been pretty high on McCabe, even though he doesn't have the stars by his name that fans like to have validate the recruits. For what it is worth, Shay Wildeboor (who?) from JayhawkSlant.com(Jayhawk's rivals.com site) had this to say about our future basketballer:
All-Iowa Attack a talented bunch
Despite playing without the services of Harrison Barnes, the 6-foot-6, 206-pound small forward from Ames (IA) Senior High School, All-Iowa Attack, led by former Iowa State Cyclone, Jake Sullivan, has a load of talent on its roster.
Zach McCabe, the 6-foot-6, 201-pound small forward from Bishop Heelan in Sioux, City, Iowa, might just be the best player that not many have heard of outside of his home state.
McCabe, a two-star prospect who recently committed to Iowa, isn't flashy and doesn't make a lot of highlight plays, but he's got a solid all-around game. He has a nice stroke from the outside and doesn't shy away from contact down low. McCabe is just one of those players that does whatever it takes to win.
Dau Jok, the 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa, is the type of player that has the ability to flat-out light it up from the outside. Jok is extremely thin and doesn't get to the rim much, but when he's on from the outside, All-Iowa Attack is just that much better.
Donivine Stewart, the 5-foot-11, 165-pound point guard from Limestone Community in Bartonville, Ill., is another player for All-Iowa Attack that has the ability to light it up from behind the arc.
However, despite his small frame, Stewart loves to put the ball on the floor and get to the basket.
Trayvon Wright, the 6-foot-7, 195-pound small forward from Waterloo (IA) West High School does a little bit of everything for All-Iowa Attack. The bouncy forward can score from the outside, has the midrange game and doesn't mind mixing it up down low.
Defensively, Wright loves to swat shots and fly around for rebounds.
It's nice to hear that their is some future recruits-a-brewin inside the Hawkeye State as well as the fact that teams outside of our state, especially from a basketball elite like Kansas like McCabe as much as the Iowa bloggers do. Either that or they are drinking the koolaid too, but from what I've seen from this kid it looks good.
Dau Jok, the kid from Roosevelt has been rumored to be another top 5 national player much like Harrison Barnes. I believe he is either going to be a sophomore this year, or he is a freshman to be. Not sure, but sounds like some exciting times are ahead for the Hawkeyes.
Kirk Ferentz is a jet flyin son of a bitch--for 35 hours per year
CBS sports.com, which for those of you that are in fantasy leagues on that website know of the awesome fucking piss poor lackadasical reporting that happens over there, has reported that Captain Kirk is on board til 2015. Great news for Hawkeye fans! For those of you that aren't Hawkeye fans, and are always bitching that Ferentz can't control his "thugs" (somehow getting a PAULA makes you lower than dirt), all I have to say is that if You ain't down with Kirk Ferentz and the D-Generation X Iowa Hawkeye Football Team, we got 2 words for ya...SUCK IT!!!!!!!
As part of that deal CBS reports(that was hard to type):
Ferentz's performance bonuses and his annual salary of $3.02 million won't change under the new contract. But the deal says that Ferentz will have access to a private plane for up to 35 hours of personal use a year.
If you ain't a Hawkeye you ain't shit, and it appears that Coach Ferentz ain't gonna be nothing but a Iowa Hawkeye for the forseeable future.
To rejoice for today's events, I will be partaking in what I like to call a friendly game of Fuck the Dealer while drinking the finest High Life that Courtside Bar & Grill has.
Lickliter strikes back
[Bumped because this is good news and basketball needs good news.--OPS]
How bout them Hawkeyes? (basketball too?)
Iowa just got their 4th commitment for the 2010-2011 season. Already on board was Roy Marble Jr, Ben Brust, and Cody Larson. This is great news for the Hawks basketball team.
Unfortunately this is the biggest thing to happen to the Hawks since Lick took over, but this has to be considered quite the haul. I am getting excited for Gatens junior and senior year. We may have a deep, athletic team of basketball players.
