Someone was recently asking about numbers for the new players. The online roster has been updated with some of the new additions.

Just talked to a reliable source in KC -- the Chiefs aren't out of it either. Productive meetings between KC and Peyton's people.

Connections to Romeo as OC and Asst. HC in Cleveland. Spent a lot of time with the Pats as well. Just speculating on a possibility here. He is currently the OL coach for the Vikes.

Leave it to Florio to turn this into some Haley bashing nonsense.

I watched the first half of the playoff game last night.

I couldn't bring myself to watch the second half, but I just kind of wanted to see where we left off. Let's just say I hope we're working on covering WR & TEs over the middle in camp. WOW.

I noticed in this video from kcchiefs.com that it would appear only the rookies and maybe some of the younger players are having to earn their arrowheads this year.

McShay was just talking punters on ESPN and when mentioning his favorite prospect, the one team he said was looking was the Chiefs.

Did I miss something? I'm pretty fond of my D.C. jersey...

Everyone up in arms about the Muir promotion should be calmed a bit by this news. Flacco was not happy that he was let go in Baltimore and I think we got a proven guy to help Cassel continue to develop.

What was the fan base like in Kansas City during your time there, and how does it differ from the fan base here (Boston)?

It’s absurdly loyal and even more locked in than here.

The Chiefs Radio Crew in Mexico

My wife and I ran into Mitch Holthus, Kendall Gammon and I believe a few other Chiefs radio guys during a 4 hour customs disaster this week in Cancun. I noticed Gammon and then Mitch and he noticed my Chiefs shirt and showed us some love. My wife told him that we would see him at Arrowhead in September. He joked, "Yeah, if we ever get out of this line first." Random story, but not who I expected to encounter in the Cancun Airport. A good bunch, hope they had fun.

Arrowhead Pride Old School Media Must Adapt...

Looking back upon finishing this, I truly didn't mean for the following to turn into an entire post, or mini-rant, but Adam Teicher's most recent article in the star (linked here in Arrowheadlines) really just pushed me to the point of wanting to put something down that "Old School Media" has already heard, but needs to hear again, and again.

For avid Chiefs fans like us here at Arrowhead Pride, articles like the one from late last night, "Chiefs check out their new players at rookie camp", have grown to be simply repeating exactly what is heard in the press conferences.  It seems that I have noticed this more and more of late.  Look at the entire article, it is 90% a direct quote.  Due to this, the article was instantly irrelevant to me, as I had already listened to the entire press conference hours earlier.

I think in the past Teicher used to offer at least a bit of insight (good or bad), but that has changed to some degree.  The furthest he goes here is to call Succop our only significant rookie addition in 2009, overlooking the fact that Tyson Jackson started 14 of 16 games last year.  Maybe the words "significant" and "contributor" are too subjective, but anytime someone starts nearly the entire season, it cannot be dismissed as insignificant.

Anyway, I am sure with increased media exposure over time (which is great for the fans), it has just made the old school journalists' jobs that much harder to provide new, solid info.  I understand that.

This is not intended to be a slight toward them, I actually feel bad for them in a way, but on the other hand, you have to adapt to overcome.  That's life and that's why AP has press creds now, because the NFL knows how to adapt.  In fact, the NFL probably does it better than almost any other multi-billion dollar corporation.

So, all that said, big props to all the writers/contributors here and throughout the Chiefs blogosphere, and a big thanks to the members of AP for constantly bringing relevant posts and fan shots to the table.  Keep up the good work.

That's my mini-rant for the morning.  Reading that article just really drove the point home as to why AP is my one stop shop for Chiefs info.  I also urge traditional media to keep pushing for new ideas and promoting new content.  Your role in the future is at a turning point in sports coverage and beyond.  Now is the time to grab the bull by the horns and redefine yourself before it is too late.

A look at the Chiefs draftees and where they ranked on average coming into the draft. A good example of how media and fans view things differently from those who are actually making the decisions on draft day.

Somebody tell me this is a misprint. No disrespect, but nobody has worn the #32 since Allen, right? It was not retired, but it was one of those off-limit numbers, much like I expect #88 is now along with a few others like #19. I just stumbled across this and was VERY curious about it. Any thoughts?

I know that someone brought this up earlier, but without actually having a physical copy of the paper, I had no idea what they were talking about.

To me, this is amazing. It also doesn't make much sense if they apparently had the chance to match our offer on Jones and then went and signed LT for only $100K more.

All I have to say about this is WOW...

Pool was the 34th overal pick in Romeo's first year with the Browns. He is a FS, but could be a possiblity here.

By my estimation, even with Pope, there are two more new players coming. SHould be interesting.

The Buccanneers released guard/center Sean Mahan to make room on the roster. The move is somewhat surprising, if only because Mahan has started 52 games in the league and the team re-acquired him via trade from Pittsburgh last year.

Arrowhead Pride The Legend of Tyler Thigpen

I hate to post this story on the same day that Whitlock is basically calling him out as well.  But, it is becoming increasingly hard for me to understand people's continued love affair with Tyler Thigpen.

Let me be the first to admit that as a season ticket holder, he at least made the games watchable last year.  But my feelings about Thigpen now rest with what it is becoming clear are the views of the Chiefs.  He just doesn't fit what they want to do.  When Gutierrez came in against the Seahawks, you could just sense the offense readjust back to a sense of normalcy, and that is saying something.

I think that Thigpen has some great athletic ability, but we need him to be a quarterback and it has become clear that he just isn't the right guy for us, even as a backup.  This fact however, has eluded many people, even those who frequent Arrowhead Stadium.

Here is a fact that we must not overlook.  Thigpen is only a shadow of himself from last year without Tony Gonzalez.  Just as anyone in his shoes should have, he utilized Gonzalez all the time and in turn kept the future hall of famer happy as well.  Without Gonzalez out there, Thigpen just looks really lost.

That is why I cannot understand why people across the country and even some of us here in town still think that Thigpen is the answer.  He may be a great guy with great athletic ability, but he is not a quarterback of the future for us, or anyone for that matter.

The "love of thiggy" issue has been exemplified in the last 24 hours in replies to numerous Matt Cassel injury updates across the internet.

Chiefs cross their fingers on Cassel, Flowers

The comments to the above article call Haley and idiot for not giving Thigpen a chance and act like we should be thanking our lucky stars that we have him as a back-up.

Please let me clarify again, I am not against this guy, I am just sick of hearing about how he should be the guy and deserves a chance.  He got his chance and we had to tailor an entirely different offense around him to make it work.  My gut says that regardless of the extent of Cassel's injury, Thigpen will be moved if possible.  For his sake, I hope he gets to go somewhere and prove all his supporters right.
