Hate over at Blazers Edge
If you haven't read, BE bloggers are mad and disgusted at GSoMers for all the trash talking going on in here about Roy making the All-Star over BD. They think that Warrior fans are all from Oakland and that we're classless. I'm not here to start anything but one Warrior fan(GSoM member I believe) spoke up about the hate on Warrior fans and Baron and he couldn't have said it any better.
http://www.blazersedge.com/story/2008/1/31/192039/101
Wow, this is...pathetic. Honestly, if you want to get mad at the GSOMers for being mad at Roy when they should be mad at the coaches, that is understandable, even though you should understand that most (not all) of us don't really hate Roy, just what he represents (a player with worse stats on a slightly worse team who gets picked over a Warrior for reasons other than basketball).
But GET OFF THE HIGH HORSE! Ooooh, look at us, we're Blazers fans, and here at Blazers Edge, we're just a little bit better than everyone else. Nevermind the fact that the way we talked about the Warriors fans and ourselves showed ZERO class (because Oakland is a really relevant point) and tons of arrogance and pretentiousness (here at Blazer's Edge, we don't swear, we just do other equally despicable things that aren't directly against the rules like uninformatively calling people thugs), just know that we would rather take shots at the Warriors fans than celebrate our man Roy! Nevermind that supposedly we were just as angry when Randolph was passed over, that's alright, because we didn't swear. Phew, thank god we can still have a false sense of entitlement!
I will address some of the arguments.
You are talking about Warriors and Blazers playing against each other? Why? There are still two games to go that aren't on your home court, and to judge a player's performance on two games rather than the season is selective and wrong. The fact is the overall records don't lie.
"Roy is a special player, but people outside of Portland don't see the things we do." You have to understand that the EXACT same could be said for Baron Davis. If you watched the playoffs last year you would understand.
"Baron Davis shoots at a percentage that is four points lower, and that translates into four extra shots."
Okay, but what do the 3 point, 2.5 assist, 2 steal advantages lead to? How many extra points over the season has Baron scored if he has 3 more per game than Roy?
Now this I don't know, but has Roy played every game? Because Baron has.
It's not that Roy hasn't done anything to deserve it, but he hasn't done anything to deserve it over Baron. Everything he has done, Baron has done, and Baron has done it better. I know he is your guy, but every stat he has, Baron is equal or above. Every clutch shot he's hit, Baron has hit a shot of equal or greater clutchness.
And this I do know, Baron is by far the superior defender, he is top two in the west (either him or Devin Harris).
Roy is my man, I liked him since his Washington days, I always thought he would be better than Robinson. But when he is picked over Baron for non-basketball reasons (certain coaches not liking Baron, the NBA not wanting Baron in New Orleans, the Trailblazers playing past expectations even though they still have a worse record than the Warriors, Roy being a very likable guy) of course we get mad. The disrespect has been coming for a long time now, and a lot of us are fed up with it.
Peace to jksnake, howlingfantods, mortimer, T Darkstar, pretty much anyone that doesn't have their heads shoved up the place that is forbidden to be mentioned on the almighty Blazer's Edge board. Good luck with your season.

Haywood, questionable on Friday
Haywood did not play against the Sixers on Tuesday because of an ankle sprained when he landed on Andray Blatche's foot.
Haywood, who is averaging career highs of 9.8 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.8 blocks, sprained his left ankle during Tuesday's home win over Philadelphia. He tested it Wednesday afternoon but said he couldn't play.http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/49354/20071122/left_ankle_sprain_sidelines_haywood/
Brendan Haywood is one of those big and physical centers that Andris has difficulty guarding. With no Agent 0 and (maybe) without Haywood, the Warriors have a real good chance to finish the road trip 4-1.
Prediction: GS wins against Detroit
I can't really explain it, except the Warriors haven't lost much at home to Eastern Conference teams for a few years now, dating back to the Musselman years.
* This is the Pistons' only BTB on their five-game West Coast trip, and they've already beaten Seattle to open it.
Personally, I don't think we match up well with any team with a physical frontline. Sheed and Nazr Mohammed would just abuse Biedrins out there. But we did sweep them last year and they are playing on a B-2-B, and I think Rip sprained an ankle today(not sure though). Hopefully they can pull this one out.
free agent : pops mensah-bonsu
Pops just became a free agent and the Mavs have no interest in keeping him, probably making room for C-webb or someone. I couldn't find his D-league stats but he scored 30 pts, 7 reb as the MVP of D-league all-star game. At 6 ft 9.5 in., he's known for his freakish athletic ability.
Here are some of his insane dunks:

Adonal's thanks with Video highlights and lowlights
On Foyle's site, he expresses his appreciation for the franchise, the great fans, and most importantly, the Bay Area and its people. Hopefully he'll come back to the Bay after his career is over.

Well we all know Adonal Foyle has been with the warriors for a long grueling decade but now it has changed and the Warriors have finally become a team that is in the playoffs and a team that could be very good in the next decade maybe. So with that said i bring you The best, The worst and Adonal Foyle off the court..................

WARRIORS: a team to beat
Even when the Warriors roster has not been complete, SI analyst Marty Burns has already placed the Warriors at the 7th place at the Western Conference:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/marty_burns/08/03/west.rankings/index.html
I still believe that the Warriors will rank much higher at the Western Conference perhaps up to 4th place because:
1. We've retained the core that made the finishing breakthrough to the playoff last season. Playing together as a team after the mega trade and injuries, the Warriors made an unbelievable 16-5 run in the 4th quarter of the last season. Of those 5 losses. 1 is a home game against the Spurs (3/26) and 4 were road games (Blazers 3/11, Jazz 3/19, Lakers 3/25 and SAS 4/7). Many say, that ran was a fluke and cannot be duplicated. Perhaps, but what is interesting to note here is that the Warriors only won 12 road games last season. 6 or 50% of those road wins were won at that final push for the playoffs. Imagine if we could win more road games and protect the Oracle with the most fanatic fans in the league as we did last season, then 6th to 4th place is not far from reality. However, the acid test is the upcoming 5 road games starting from Toronto on 11/18 and two back to back games with the Knicks and Celtics (w/ Pierce, Allen and KG) on 11/21-22 and with the Wizards and Sixers on 11/23-24.
2. By then, SJax will be with the team as he has done with his 7-game suspension. After all his court issues were behind him, I hope he will be more focus on his games and play better basketball and be a role model to other players who have the same baggage. Another thing to consider is that, this time Nellie has the right pieces when he starts this season campaign. But aside from the veteran players who played at the playoffs, the Warriors get a lot bigger and deeper by their off season adds on without sacrificing their ran and gun game by maintaining their quickness, fire power and athleticism.
3. Of that core, only JRich was traded. True, the fans and the team will miss him not only his talent, leadership and intensity but his productions as well (16 pts/5.1 rebs/3.4 assists). But I believe his productions can be spread amongst the team. Warriors' players are selected to be interchangeable parts of the team based on their talents, flexibilities and athleticism. They have no defined playing positions but defined roles as needed in Nellie's ball. Individual talent will be of no use if it doesn't fit in that system. Besides, individuals don't win games, only team does.
4. As per 82games.com, the Warriors as a team with the combinations of Davis/Ellis/SJax/Big Al/Biedrins have 90% winning probability, one of the best in the league. Whereas, any combination of players with JRich was, the highest probable winning percentage is only 70%. http://www.82games.com/0607/0607GSW2.HTM
Finally, with the most effective combination of players still on the roster and Nellie at the helm, the Warriors are no longer the underdog when they reached the Western semis last season but a TEAM TO BEAT
James Posey to the Warriors?
it seems that mullin had a "good meeting" with posey on friday in vegas.
Warriors meet with Posey: Vice president Chris Mullin and special assistant Mitch Richmond had a "good meeting" with free-agent forward James Posey in Las Vegas on Friday, according to Mark Bartelstein, Posey's agent. Bartelstein said the Warriors were among several teams, including Dallas and Washington, to express interest in his client and that talks were ongoing.http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/07/15/WARRIORS.TMP
a "good meeting" probably means that something is holding Posey back into coming to the bay. im thinking they're trying to work out a s/t Pietrus for Posey, and resign barnes with the MLE.
Mikki Moore to the Kings!!
the kings have just agreed on a contract for mikki more.
http://sacramentokingsblog.blogspot.com/2007/07/this-just-in-kings-and-mikki-moore.html
"We're really excited to come to an agreement with Mikki Moore," Kings President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie said. "He brings athleticism, length, skill and experience to our team and we're looking forward to watching him play fro the Kings."
glen davis
glen davis led LSU to the final four in 2006. After he finished working out with the warriors on thursday, he had a few things to say about nellie and co.
On Thursday, Big Baby worked out for the Golden State Warriors. Chad Ford of ESPN.com has Big Baby going to the Rockets at No. 26 in his mock draft. It went good. I had a nice little workout. My hip's hurting a little bit, but I did pretty good today, but the hip wasn't too bad. I like the system over here. The guys are cool: Don Nelson's a great guy and Chris Mullin's a great guy too. And the way my game is, I can see myself playing here.
I would fit in well. I would bring another post presence and be another guy who can isolate and score. I think I would be a great fit and I know I could contribute here.
Being picked at No. 18 would be really SHOCKING ... to everybody else. I want to shock the world. I think people would be shocked by how skinny I've gotten, really, I'm just thinner by about 45-50 which puts me at 280. I definitely feel lighter and more smooth and more control of what I do on the court
http://www.nba.com/chat_and_mailboxes/bigbaby_blog.html
If we can get this guy in the 2nd round it would be a steal.Yes, he is like 300 lbs. but he can run, shoot, dribble, rebound, and defend.
Watch his video here, he's #45
